Vodafone refusing me an upgrade.

...basically because i have 6 months of an 18 month contract left.
I have been with vodafone for approx 10 years and have extended my contract twice in sucession ( 18 month contracts ) without getting a phone upgrade ( I've had the same phone for 5 years ).
Considering this, i think its a bad crack really to refuse me an upgrade as ultimately the iphone contract i want to go to is twice the price of the monthly contract i'm currently on.
Anyone had this experience? Is a complaint likely to get them to budge?

most unlikely...
offer to buy out the remaining 6 months and ask for your PAC code , may get retentions to deal
Phones4u etc may buy out the contract to get a dealEx forum ambassador

Not a hope, no network will upgrade you 6 months out. 3 months is the max and even then you won't get a good offer and don't forget they'll add the remaining months on the the new contract...0

This may sound strange, but why would you extend a contract without a phone as a incentive?
Are you sure your not just on a rolling contract?Daytona_nev wrote: »...basically because i have 6 months of an 18 month contract left.

Vodafone let me upgrade 7 months early last december. I had been a customer for around 3 years.0

Was that "upgrade" cheaper than a sim only? If not, then why don't you go onto a 30-day or 12 month sim only contract when they let you.
(If the deal you have is better than the sim-only deals, please let me in on it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)0 -
Threaten to leave and then that might see them budge.....phone operators hate seeing their clients jump ship to rival operators
They spend millions of pounds in advertising trying to attract new clients in the first place and so the cost to them of keeping existing one's is much smaller in comparison.
If you're going to be entitled to an upgrade either now or in 3 months does it really make a big difference to them?
Threaten to leave (even if it's just a bluff) and best of luck

Even if the OP was to threaten to leave, that would still leave 6 months of an existing contract which would need to be paid. The commitment was 18 months, not 12 months.0 -

They offered me a slightly discounted contract to extend without a new phone the first time. The second time was a continuation of that slightly discounted contract, again without a new phone.0 -

To be honest, i'll willing to pay up & leave for a rival if they're not prepared to budge. Given they're not subsidising a new phone i don't see any reason why they can't end my current contract early to go for a more expensive contract with an iphone.
I've written a complaint to their customer services dept to see what happens.0 -

They will end it early. Ask them and you'll get a value for the Early Termination Fee and once you pay that they'll release you from the contract.
It's your monthly cost x months left. You *should* get 25% off but when I asked over the phone it was not offered, if it's not ask for it.0
