3 mobile problem trying to upgrade

hi there folks, im having a problem with 3 mobile, i have 110 days left on my contract so i sked to upgrade to a new deal, the deal i wanted was advertised online for £20 the same price as i pay now, when i asked about the deal i was told that was for new customers only and i would have to pay £26 for the same deal, so i opted to upgrade to a sim only month to month deal which costs £10 per month then i would cancel after 110 days then go to orange mobile, they agreed to that deal then called me back 5 minutes later and said you cant upgrade to a sim only deal until you have only 30 days left on your contract, i think they are lying because i wanted to upgrade to a lower price plan then cancel the contract after 110 days, any suggestions will be appreciated, thank you

    A lower price plan isn't an upgrade.

    If a lower price plan is not an upgrade how come my partner was able to do exactly that 3 months before the end of her contract with 3, thank you

    1) Cancel when contract expires and ask for pack code
    2) Get a free sim from o2 tranfer number to o2
    3) find a new deal in three or somewhere again get pack code from o2
    4)move to new contract
    5) Happy custormer..................

    I have moved to a sim only deal with 110 day left on the contract twice.
  • Does anyone know if it is still possible to upgrade to sim only when you have 110 days left on your contract, 3 say you cant but i know people who have, i really need to find out if they are just fobbing me off , ii will be going to trading standards to see if hey can help, cheers

    110 days before is when the upgrade window opens, you will have a limited number of options available to you, when you get to 39 days before the full range becomes open along with extra deals and sims.

    ANything between 110 and 40 days is classed as an early upgrade, we instore are told to advise customers to wait until 39 days to obtain better deals

    My partner upgraded to a sim only month to month contract when she had 110 days left of contract, the 3 salesperson advised me to go for the sim only deal, once i said i would not be renewing my contract after 110 days had ran out they called me back and said it was a mistake and i can't upgrade to sim only until i have only 30 days remaining of my current contract, i think they are lying and would like to find out , cheers for replies...........

    Steve - break it down.

    You signed for 18 months. Is there anything you have got showing in their t&c at time of signing that you could change the deal within the last 3 months? If so - you've got them. If not - they've got you.

    So, assuming that 18 months is 18 months, some companies will do deals within the last 3 or 1 month to retain the customer, but it is at their discretion. Often it depends upon the amount of money that they are getting from the contract but, regrettably, it often depends upon the CS person you get on the end of the phone. What you are offered may vary from CS rep to CS rep. (Experience, seniority, which side of the bed did they get out of, your attitude to them etc)

    So, unless you have 100% written evidence that you were told that you could upgrade/degrade etc in the last 3 months, you agreed 18 months and any goodwill relaxation of that is in 3's hands.

    Wait till 30 days before the contract ends - you will then have paid your last rental bill and ask for your PAC code. You can use it whenever in the last 30 days as you will then have paid up your contract.
  • I dont have any proof that i could change with 3 months remaining of contract, i do know anyone who has had a contract with 3 have upgraded with 110 days remaining, as i said my partner upgraded to sim only with 110 days remaining and was saving over £20 per month, when i asked about it i was told i could then they called back and said i can't, i just hink they were be awkward because i said i would not be renewing my contract at its end, cheers

    Then you will, regrettably, have to take it on the chin. Whatever concessions they have made to others doesn't necessarily apply to you. You can try another CS rep in a couple of days, though.

    Next piece of joy awaiting you is trying to cancel the contract or get your PAC code! From other threads, it is as easy as getting chewing gum off your shoe or getting a dent out a ping-pong ball.
