I signed up and deposited my £20 then I have got my account disabled because apparently there was irregularities in the country from which I kept accessing the website (I can assure them I stayed in the UK the whole time)
I then got an email from them asking for:
- photocopy of your ID, Passport or Driver's License
- photocopy of a recent utility bill or statement showing your name and address
- photocopy of your credit card ending # xxxx (front & back)
I don't think i'd dream of ever doing this for VERY reputable companies let alone an offshore betting firm .. Are you guys sure this is 100% legit as I'm worried that they now have all my card details!0 -
Not heard of betclic but did try the other one thats about lastnight and I won on the Brazil Match :j,
188BET and they have a £25 free bet.

This is absolutely standard practice for any site now who suspect anything dodgy on your behalf, not theirs. I have my DL, my Passport and all my cards (and a utility bill) in .pdf format. Whenever I get this request, and it's almost every site I gamble at now, I get this request. The fraud prevention system changed recently, I think that's why.
This company is huge and long established. Gl with your bet. :jI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

You can bet on any result in any world cup match as long as the bet is settled before July 12th. So for those looking to make a couple of quid, place it on a dead cert - if that dead cert wins you'll make a few quid, if it loses you get your money back.
There is, however, an additional loop hole. Place £20 on a first goalscorer bet and if that loses you get not only your £20 back but a free £20 bet if that goalscorer scores any time in the match. MY bet is as follows:
election 1
Selection Fernando Torres @ 4.50
Market
First Goalscorer
Event
World Cup
Spain v Switzerland

http://www.888sport.com/bet - Make sure you click on the banner, register then place a single £20 bet with nothing else on the bet slip.
WARNING - This may lead to further gambling. If you don't trust yourself to close the account after the match, don't do it!I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I followed your tip.
Can't see where it said you get another £20 if they score any time in the match though.
Come on Torres!
PS does it work if you do an each way bet?
I had been considering of going for Westwood £10e/w in the US Open but wasn't sure if it would have counted.0 -
Of course the purpose of this promotion is to get people who do not bet regularly to do do.I am disappointed that mse is encouraging this activity.Bookies do not give free bets out of the goodness of their hearts.0

This is nothing to worry about. I think what's happend here is 888's software which tries to detect your current country location has not been accurate. This kind of software is well known to be wrong often, e.g. everytime I go to the national-lottery website they tell me I'm outside the UK.
As for sending in ID, a lot of people will get asked to do this anyway when they come to withdraw.broadhaven wrote: »Of course the purpose of this promotion is to get people who do not bet regularly to do do.I am disappointed that mse is encouraging this activity.Bookies do not give free bets out of the goodness of their hearts.
Of course there is something in it for them. A percentage of people that sign up to this will continue betting after the promo, or will bet their winnings from the freebet. Those people are paying for the rest of our freebets. Also this promo will produce a large injection of contact details into their marketing campaign which is somewhat valueable. You're more than likely going to receive junk mail, I have already received about 5 text messages but nothing in the post yet.
So if you have no self control or are not going to be able to withdraw the refund or winnings or have had a gambling related addiction in the past then then you shouldn't take part.0 -
hi, right i'm going to sound so dumb but....i have never done bets on football etc online and don't know where to start even. :rotfl:
i have reg'd which part of site do i go to? i really dont understand the betting odds sorry guys any help and i'd be greatfulhave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0 -
I've registered and placed my 20 GBP bet!
I just chose South Africa to win today's match against Uruguay. No idea if they will win or not, but I still get the 20 GBP back anyway, so no harm, no foul.
Oddly, though I am outside the UK, I didn't have any of the issues stated above (asking for ID etc etc). I have provided my Dutch contact info (address, phone etc) though, so they shouldn't have any issues with it.
Good luck all!February wins: Theatre tickets0
