Got my £20 back into my bank account today.

Although I hate gambling with a passion, I gave this a go as it was NO LOSE and was in the weekly email, and thinking that if martin gives it a heads up it must be OK, but it has seriously put me off trying any future bets / gambling etc that are similar as its just to complicated and I havent a clue.

So keep adding all your gambling chat, odds etc here, as it baffles me something cronic that it puts me off so im sure itll put others off.

One very good reason it shoudnt have been in the weekly email

Well id personally like to thank MSE for the heads up on this because since depositing that first £20, not only did i win that bet, ive won loads more from the winnings! Well i say i, the hubby to be did lol.
£100 altogether, ( ie if we win 22.78 we withdraw £20 and leave the rest for more bets)
He even guessed last nights' 3-1 japan and netherlands 2-1.
    one of them was 34 -1. :j
So, obviously i didnt get my £20 back coz i won, but weve made £100 profit just from that £20 and its winnings :T
Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p

But you've gambled. Well done for winning and as long as you knew what you were doing, that's fine. But again, as I and others have said, this should never have been in the newsletter. I'd go so far as to say Martin should have apologised for including it as well given some of the responses in this thread.

As someone else said you gambled and won, great, but you could have just as easily gambled and lost and by the sound of things you are getting excited about the gambling and you may well carry on and in the long run you will lose.

Just to add I am not against gambling I have been a gambler for last 35 years or so,

I totally agree with you there, a few wins and that has you hooked, then you'll lose more times than you win, but you'll keep telling yourself that, the big one is coming and you'll get all your money back then. Of course that rarely happens.

We dont even play the lottery, we put a few quid a week in a savings account, over the year it adds up, granted 7 million will never apear in our bank over night but the chances of that happening anyway are ridiculously slim, my mum has playd the lottery since day one, has wasted a small fortune on it at a couple of quid a week, and i think she has won 2 x £10, at least this way we have a couple of hundred pounds to spend on what we like atthe end of the year.

Best way to do it i think. Especially as i have grown up surrounded by alchoholics, drug addicts and gamblers and i have seen 1st hand how it started harmlessly then the addiction took over and has now and forever ruined their, and their familes lives.

Trust me, im a smoker (quitting on sunday), have been since I was 13, im 28 now and i wish i had never ever started. I wonder what life i would have, having all that extra cash each week. Never mond the health benefits. And i started smoking saving i would only do it once.

To me, online gambling is a very serious thing, its very secretive, its not like you have to walk down to the bookies and place your bets, you can do it far to easily.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

Not at all, we've bet on the football for years and its only ever £1 or £2 bets, and after winning the £20 back that id spent, that got withdrawn and we onlycontinued to bet on the spare pounds and pence winnings. weve literally made profit with no risk, had we not won the first bet, that wouldve been it, no more bets.
Ive watched close families lives be ruined through gambling, i would never allow it to become an issue.
I like a drink now and then, dont mean im gona be an alchoholic.

The team that I bet on to win the World Cup (Italy) have crashed out! (never make a gambler, me!!). Do I just get my £20 back automatically now, do I have to wait till end of World Cup or do I have to apply for the refund?

    Appreciate your guidance! Thanks :)

Your money should already be back in your account as your bet has lost (they may wait until the end but I doubt it). have you checked your 888 account? If it is there, withdraw it, if not you could ring them on their freefone number

Thanks for the advice - I'll check now.....
  • You will need to contact them for a manual refund or wait.

The market you are betting on is for the winner of the world cup and will not be settled until there is one.
