I think the "nonsense" (not my words) is that post #15 said the main use gets NCD.
I think it's the policyholder.
In general (excluding policies that double up) the policyholder gets the NCD and this does not have to be the main driver (with many insurers).
The main driver does of course have to be declared correctly (unless you're one of those exact 50/50 cases).
Am I right people?
You are correct, my error, just trying to fight the issue of of insurance subtifudge, (sp).:eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
You claim you aren't trolling here, yet your points have caused unnecessary argument, you have never accepted you have raised nonsensical, scaremongering posts, and just seem to move on from each piece of nonsense to just more objections just to prolong your presence!
Quentin I am here, I am here every day, just like you, but occassionally, when I get it wrong, unlike you, I apologuise, sorry if I offended you, (dependant on your next post).
I am no troll
Simply disagreeing with you, however hard you find that to accept,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

You have wrongly posted that the OP would be committing a criminal offence (when this was pointed out to you added fraud to your scaremongering). etc etc.
Others attempted to put you right (not just me!).
Can't see any apology though!0 -

Standing by whats said, no apology needed.
Advice was given to the op to get devicive with his ins, no consideration given to his other halfs situation, I pointed out the facts, you simply want to win on a point of law, tell you what, I'll give that to you, hope your moral inner can support you. End of.:o:o:o:o:o
PS, Do I take it you accept I am no longer a Troll,?
Sorry have to go, will reply tommorrow if needed.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

There is nothing devious (if that was what you meant) in the advice given at all.
The OP has "paid" for his NCD and asked a reasonable question of this moneysaving forum on how he could legitimately keep it.
The solution given is tried and tested, quite legal, and follows the ideals of this moneysaving website.
You now seem to be saying I am immoral. Unnecessary, and seems designed just to cause more trouble. Troll like behaviour!
You can have the last word whenever you like.0 -
There are some things you have to be aware of though (that have caused these arguments).
i.e.
1) you have to understand the difference between policyholder and main user
2) You need a company that doesn't mind the policyholder being different to the registered keeper (ebike won't do this)
3) You need a company that doesn't mind the policyholder and main user being different.
4) If you want business cover for spouse you need a company that provides this as not all do it for named drivers.
Squabbling over the minutae and who said what to whom is not particularly helpful to the OP.

Thanks for replies - wow, I opened a small goldmine didn't I, and I thought it'd be a simple answer.
Think i'd get insurance on her car while she cancels and have her a named driver on my policy if I still haven't got another car come next May. I'd like to keep my NCB/NCD as I wouldn't like to start at the bottom again as my postcode isn't great, but similarly wouldn't want to lose hers too.
If only I could find a job right now I wouldn't be in this situation but that's another story...0 -
I'm in a simialr situation (sort of).
My car was scrapped last May as it's was uneconomical to repair (H reg).
My insurance expired August.
My husbands insurance came up in June.
This time we kept it in his name because there is a possibility I might get another car, so there is really no panic as we have 2 years.
Next time if I still have no car, then I will have to take the insurance to keep my (6 or 7 years) NCB intact.
One thing I would say for definite is make sure you KEEP your wife's renewal notice as that is proof of her NCD.
If you aren't very organised then make sure you make a point of keeping this safe and knowing where it is.
This is really important, because if you can't prove it then you lose it and you cannot rely on companies to help you once you've left them.0
