Technically illegal is my polite way of saying "what you are doing is not legal"..Whether it's a major crime is another issue, which I assumed all could understand.

Bad advice does not come into it, if you insure a car in someone elses name when you are the main driver, which I think is the case here, you have no insursnce and are being fraudulent? or have my ethics got the better of me???

Where is there a crime being committed?

You posted it's illegal to insure a car when you are not the main driver of the car. Just nonsense.

Now you say you have "no insurance and are fraudulent"! More nonsense.

The policyholder and named drivers are insured to drive the car. Either can be the nominated "main user" of the car irrespective of which one is the policyholder.

    You are just scaremongering.

You can insure a car and nominate another driver as the main driver. The premium is then adjusted to account for that driver. Nothing illegal in doing that. I worked in the car insurance business for 8 years.

Your experience or expertise in this area is..........

There are some cases where some couples share the driving 50/50.
My husband and I share the same commute.
I think EITHER of us could be the main driver and there is nothing illegal about it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
But if you share 50/50 then can either be the main driver??

And if you nominate 1 the main in user the other does not get the NCD?????

The advice given to the op does not take this into account, indeed it as a common way of "getting round" insurance issues,

    Tell me that's nonsence:T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I wouldn't be too concerned about who you nominated as the main driver if you both have roughly equal use, unless there is a clear difference to the risk - i.e. one of you is much younger, has a bad driving history, points on licence, illness / medication relevant to increase risk, occupation likely to affect.... etc

Just make sure you both have the correct useage available - SDP & commuting or in connection with business if you commute to more than one place of work. It needs to specify 'commuting' applies both insured and spouse.

Quentin, How can 2 people get no claims discount on a single policy, we would all love to know, (and do it)???:naughty::naughty:

And don't forget the question origianally was how do I retain mt NCD even tho I have no car, or words to that effect.

    Justification Quentin.

Waste of time justifying to you.

You already been told you are wrong on your fraudulent/illegal scaremongering, and without remorse have moved on to more nonsense.

You try and tell us why you think the main driver gets the NCD!
