Yet another free trial teeth whitening scam. This one is called Gleamify.

The "free trial" requires you to return the product within 14 days of ordering it to avoid being charged £50. This is only mentioned in the tiny small print.

    Gleamify - - - -:rotfl::rotfl:
  • I was sent an email about a free trial and paid for the postage costs. It was only after I did so that alarm bells went off in my head and I googled Gleamify for scams and came across your forum. Thanks to your advise I have cancelled my card and sent them 2 emails stating I wish to cancel the trial. I have not yet received the trial anyway so am learing from this lesson that if its too good to be true then usually there is a catch!!!

Glad you didn't get caught out! £60 for toothpaste is flippin' outrageous!

For the record, it is £59.95, and you 'sign up' for a self-renewing subscription at just under £65/month (inc p&p), just by asking for a 'free trial'.
  • Think I may also have been scammed by them.

Wife thought it a good idea but I was suspicous and Cancelled their so called Free Offer @ postage only...to which the responded as cancelled...but was still not too convinced.

I immediately informed my bank...the Nationwide BS but they didnt seem to care.
Told them and even confirmed that this company had already been committing fraud in the past and had also been investigated by ASA and Media but again... Nationwide seemed to ignore me.

Just to be on the safe side I reduced all my accounts with them down to a ...£1

Just checked my a/c again and appears that I may be in the red to the tune of about £60.....

Nationwide may have..not 100 % sure yet as awaiting their response ...PAID the Crooks....what are they thinking of??...anyway hope not but lets see...

Not sure why you are blaming Nationwide for anything, they aren't your guardian.
You signed up for this nonsense, Nationwide didn't do it for you.

They are simply respoding to your wishes that the fees indicated below are transferred to Gleamify (who could take this company seriously?).

Your membership issue is between you and gleamify, nothing to do with Nationwide.

  • Thats the point....and Nationwide has now told me that they are investigating this outfit.

Wife wanted a free trail of some toothpaste (agreed to pay the postage) and then I cancelled which was accepted ....OK forget the postage.

Anyway couple of weeks later...incid still no toothpaste (cancelled remember) and suddenly £60 quid out of account....could have been £600 or even £6000....yes indeed ..

Dont know how they managed it but then scammers are good....will await N/Ws investigation:T
I had informed N/W and told them in advance of my suspicions....IE they were aware......

These things costs the RBS and TSB the best part of 200 Billion....so lets see ..shall we...
  • By the time they sent out my "Free Trial" and I noticed the terms and conditions they had already taken £59.95 from my account. I cancelled the subscription and have sent the product back by recorded delivery. I am now going to get in touch with my bank to tell them not to let this lot of rogues take another penny from my account.

I wish I had checked Martin's website beforehand
  • I've since contacted my bank who put me through to the Fraud Section and they said the only thing they could do because I signed up for the Free Trial was to cancel my debit card and they'll send me out a new one.

This in itself cause me a major headache as I now have to change my card details on all of my billing forms.

Pain in the neck Gleamify. Thanks for that !!!:(
  • These 2 companies seem to to working in tandem by saying that one product works better with the other product, my bank tried warning me but I said it was ok as I'd signed up for some samples. Better healthy took the sample money of £2.98 then within the hour took another £127.94. I stopped my debit card immediately and reported them to fraud dept at the bank. Today I received the sample from Gleamify and read the small print, OOps. they say you have 14 days from the order date (which was 13 days ago)or else they bill you for the £52.99, they have been telephoned and the product cancelled, the call has been recorded. i hope I've learnt my lesson.
