consumer rights for purchase of tv

Slightly on-topic, I once had a customer return an LG that was buzzing. I could hear it. LG refused to issue an uplift since it couldn't be heard with the volume set to 30.
30 was much louder than most people would ever use it on...I could've...grr..
Gotta love LG :wall:. I bet if a DVD recorder caught fire, they'd hire a philosopher to put a screen in the way of the fire and debate whether something is on fire if you can't see it.0 -

So post #2 was no advice of any use?
In my opinion NO! There is no reason to check anything. The T.Vs on display in the shop are an invitation to buy a perfectly working T.V as shown and advertised. The buyer can reasonably expect to purchase a perfectly working T.V not have to mess around playing engineers!
And by messing around with the T.V his rights of redress are diminished to boot!0 -
So there is no need for the OP to check that any of their equipment that they have plugged in to the TV is the cause of the problem. Spot on advice from you then.kentishplato wrote: »So post #2 was no advice of any use?

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Sorry, where does post #2 say mess around with the TV? It said 'Check the leads, my TV developed a hummimg noise which turned out to be a dodgy SCART lead. If that's not he problem get it back to the retailer ASAP and ask for a refund/replacement'.0 -

From what i have read here my advice is the only advice that will help this person get a T.V that works perfectly. Making sarcastic comments like yours does not help the person who asked for help. In fact i wonder what people like you are doing on here. Is it to satisfy some kind of impotent self-esteem issues? If so go and seek help for your problem. Stop wasting everyones time with your negativity. If you cannot be of help then do not post.
I came on this forum to offer help to someone who obviously needed to know his rights on the basis that i have never lost any issue i have contested because i took the time and trouble to learn the law.
I will now leave this forum and advise anyone looking for help to look elsewhere on the net for free advice. There are plenty of people willing to help out there and there are some on here too, but it would appear there are far too many retailers in disguise. Goodbye All!!!!0 -

So my advice in post #2 to check the leads and if that's not the problem take the TV back for a refund/replacement wouldn't have resulted in a TV that worked perfectly? Yeh, you're the man!
Retailers in disguise? Has that become your phrase of the month? Get over yourself!0 -

Like Transformers, but with a 28-day return policySquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
No comment Zandoni? Unlike at 6.00am this morning when both you and KP (is that a nut?) were up and at it perhaps?0

Can anyone help?..bought 50 inch tv approx 14 days ago but it has developed a humming noise which is pretty off putting when watching anything. What are my rights regarding this. I want to return it and request another make/brand..because I have a feeling its a general problem and dont want to go down the route of it going back to the manufactor just to come back with the same problem etc etc???
Your rights are simple, if the humming noise is annoying take it back for a refund.
Personally I wouldn't exchange it, I would get a refund then buy another one on a new receipt.0
