I know this is really late, but Miracle Whip is more like a combination of mayonaise and salad cream - it's thick like mayo, but the colour and taste are just like what you get if you mix the two half and half.

It's no more full of rubbish than salad cream or Hellman's.

I'm really surprised by this, I always imagined that it would be more like Dream Topping!

    Ingredients in Miracle Whip

Water, soybean oil, vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, modified food starch, eggs, salt, mustard flour, artificial color, potassium sorbate as a preservative, paprika, spice, natural flavor, dried garlic.

    Ingredients in Helmann's Mayonnaise

Vegetable Oil , Water, Pasteurised Egg & Egg Yolk , Spirit Vinegar, Salt, Sugar, Lemon Juice, Mustard Flavouring, Antioxidant (Calcium Disodium EDTA), Paprika Extract

More full of rubbish than Helmann's I'd say ;)

I think Helllmanns is a manufacturer that has committed to using happy eggs or whatever they're called.

Yes, Hellman's mayo is now made with Freerange eggs.

I find it too rich and prefer the own label mayo, especially when I'm making my own seafood sauce

I know that high fructose corn syrup is used a lot in american ingredients and its evil. it's like syrup basically and not good for you. You just wouldn't think in a mayo type product that this would be in there. Must say, I love miracle whip though...........but then I am american........

Call me an old cynic, but I think they only use a proportion of free range eggs. I think that if all the eggs used in the mayo were free range it would state 'free range eggs' in the ingredients list as well as claiming they use free range on the front of the label.

    OK - you're an Old Cynic ;)

According to this page Hellmann's mayo is now made "with only free range eggs".

( I'm an old cynic too and I found their labelling a bit weasely, so I checked before starting to buy it ).
  • Thanks Darlingtonian :T I'm glad to be proved wrong;)
