Oreo Biscuits are available in most supermarkets, and Skippy Peanut butter. If you have a Costco card there are loads of American foods there, but if you haven't got that how about oreos, peanut butter, a punnet of blueberries, a Jack Daniels miniature, a packet of New York Bagels (available in most supermarkets), a tin of hot dogs (the tin with the stars and stripes on the label), some French's mustard, a bag of popcorn (the pop your own stuff) and perhaps a New York guide book (you can get them for buttons on ebay) and a picture of you both superimposed on the computer onto a New York scene.Jane

Are you planning on taking your NY trip on Sept 11th ? Might not be the happiest time to be there...
No its his bday on Sept 11th.
We wont be going till after he's finished his masters at uni, which will be in time for his 25th, i.e 2 years time.
That way I've got plenty of time to save! I'm not to sure what time of year we'll go, but probably will be september, as it seems theres no real off season for New York! But the weather is still nice then it seems.
And besides can't let the terrorists think they've won, and avoid it, especially not at that time, I think! But anyway, before I get all political........
lets talk about these cookiesWealth is not measured by currency0 -
A can of hot dogs.
Apple Pie might keep in a air tight container.
Doughnuts but they probably wouldn't keep.
A pack of New York Bagles.
Anything with "Friends" logo'd on it! Charity shops are always selling the videos!
HTH;)
PS when you do go, go in September, Central Park is just beautiful then & a total suprise in such a city! I have a bowl of "po pourri" I made from pressed fallen leaves I collected in central park, my favourite & cheapest souveniar. Plus you get the build up to Hallowe'en in the shops without the inflated ticket prices;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
No there is no relation to snickers bars! and they are nut free too!
350g (12oz) plain flour
5ml(1tspn) bicarb of soda
225g (8oz) butter, softened
250g(9oz) soft brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
75ml (5 tbspn) caster sugar
15ml(1tbspn) ground cinnamon
Sift together the flour and bicarb of soda
Cream together butter and sugar and gradually beat in the eggs
Add the flour and work into the butter mixture to make a smooth dough. Wrap in cling film and chill for 30 mins
In a small bowl mix together the caster sugar and cinnamon and tip onto a plate or tray.
Take small pieces of dough and roll into sausages about the thickness of a pencil and 4 inches long. Roll these in the sugar and cinnamon mixture until well coated and then shape into rings, S-shapes and crescents. Place onto greased baking trays
Bake at 190C/375F/Gas mark 5 for 10 - 12 minutes until the cookies are golden brown at the edges. Transfer to cooling rack and store in an airtight container when cool.

I just thought - since you are both at University, why don't you both apply for the Camp America programme? My neice and her friends do this every summer and they have a ball!! They get paid for being there too!! You work on a rich kids holiday camp for 4 weeks or so and then you get the money to travel for 2 weeks. Christine has been to Boston, New York and somewhere else I can't remember. It would be a really cheap way for you both to see the States and have your trip to New York!!!Jane
