Common sense. If you don't pursue an overcharge, surely they'll be more inclined to think they can get away with it next time? I'm living on the planet where I don't let these capitalist giants trample all over me.

Just one quick question for you, bleugh - if Tesco apprehended a shoplifter who stole a pack of Capri Sun worth £4.16, and took civil and criminal action against them, would you describe their actions as "pedantic" and "stupid", etc. ?
if tesco barred you from every UK store for suing them because you wanted free stuff, would that be pedantic

the problem here is people are trying to define things into black and white

we have the anal camp on the right, who are RIGHT, never wrong and just making Tesco staff members lives hell by repeatedly threatning trading standards

then on the left we have the 'give and take' camp, who, strictly speaking are 'wrong', but, lead less hassled lives, and probably get more R+R in the long term anyway

at the end of the day, I believe us lefties are in the majority, as surely all you righties have court cases running against all the other supermarkets, your local newsagents, and your grannies??, please post your ASDA misprices, I had one the other day

    I'm a leftie
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Just got Wagamama ways with noodles book. stickered £8.97 scanned at £9.97 (some were correctly stickered). There was also a guy checking the whole book aisle with a price scanner and he'd a;ready checked the wagamama one!

CS assistant tutted and gave instant refund - quickest I've ever had!

McDOnag - just noticed your massive clubcard points total! What are you going to do with them? What proportion do you get from wombleing?

If they send you one of those leaflets to use your points as money off shopping, can you just not use the coupons to save up your points, then use them on the Deals brochure?
  • Can you get an R+R for being undercharged from what's on the SEL? I bought some tea bags last night. The pack stated £1.3x (on special offer) and the SEL was £1.7x. I was charged £1.3x, as on the packet. I'm not complaining about it and wouldn't dream of going to get my money back, but was just wondering about the theory of it.

Once again you are making unfounded statements about the way we go about getting R+Rs. In previous posts you accuse us of "abusing" Tesco staff, and now you say we are "making their lives hell". What do you base this upon? Every time I have asked for an R+R, I have been very polite but insistent. I never swear or raise my voice, and always say please and thank you. From what I can gather, the majority of R+R addicts on here also behave decently. (In my experience it is actually the staff who are rude to the customer more often than the other way round - there are some horrendous bulldogs on CS desks at my local stores who sometimes bite my head off before I've even finished my first sentence).

I can't see why you have this indignation about someone threatening to go to Trading Standards. How does it make the lives of individual staff members "hell"? Tesco have a lot of big guns working for them, whose job it is to handle legal matters. It's just part of everyday business.

I must be one of the "anal camp", as you eloquently put it, as I usually take complaints all the way and often issue court proceedings. I don't condemn people who can't be bothered to do this, but in return I don't expect to be condemned for wanting to have my rights upheld as a consumer. What I can't understand is your resentment towards those of us who fight. Consider for a minute how companies like Tesco would virtually have carte blanche to get away with anything if nobody ever held them to account. I wouldn't want to live in a world like that.

SEL means Shelf Edge Label and R&R mean Refund and Retain. (basically means if you are over priced you get a Refund and Retain the goods for yourself!)
    Nothing can compare
