curiosity got the better of me!!! I had a good ol' feel around and found a rather large one..........and some pebble-sized!!

I was, however disappointed that some were nasty and rotten ones rather like squashed slugs :( because I bought them from homebase and expected better. I did follow all the instructions but that's nature I guess.

Still I have cleared all the rot away so hopefully I will get some bigger surprises when I have another dig in a few weeks :)

One quick question......what happens to the seed potatoes that you plant originally?

I just dug mine up, planted from one bag of Poundshop potatoes and I'm so chuffed, I keep pulling more and more up, I'll give them a quick weigh later before I have some for my tea with steamed salmon and fresh broad beans (not from garden as only just found out that I love them after 38 years of avoiding them like the plague becasue they look funny!).

My garden centre spuds need a few more weeks but it'll be interesting to compare the yield as they are the same variety (Charlotte)
just under 6lbs, really really pleased, going to try and post a picture!

I've been wondering this too, because we've dug up a whole bag of spuds and there was no sign of the seed potato - maybe it disintegrates? Or does it turn into a real potato?

Before 'firkling' rub your fingernails over a bar of soap, it keeps the soil out and then when you wash your hands your nails are lovely and clean. :-)

I have never grown anything outdoors before and am really pleased so far. I have rocket and spinach that I use on a regular basis and I have courgettes coming up nicely and had some peas tonight for dinner. I have planted my potatoes in black bin bags, so have no idea whether it will work or not, but am going to have a look at the weekend and do some 'firkling' as I have since learned it is called! Will keep you posted.
