Afternoon all!
DD2 is off on her Year 6 school trip next week [thought it was the following week -] so had to traipse around city centre looking for long sleeved tops as she isn't allowed to take part in activities at the centre in T-shirts. This is the child who has worn short sleeves from her first day at nursery and absolutely hates anything covering her arms (I can sympathise, I don't like anything below the elbow either).
Took 2 hours of misery to find 3 long sleeved tops acceptable to her inner rock god. Two checked shirts from the boys' section and one stripey top from the girls' at Next. Couldn't face either cooking or the dreaded McD's so had fish and chips for dinner.
Went back into town today in search of a mic and MIDI leads. No luck in any of the music shops, but decided to indulge my early midlife crisis after spending out £60 on a trackball to make music editing and analysis easier.
I have booked to start bass guitar lessons. The guy running the shop has offered to open the studio rooms up when he opens in the morning, so I can go in and practice on all the different loan instruments until the tutors turn up at midday.
That way I get 6 - 8 weeks to decide what bass I like and how they need to set it up to allow for my general leftsided feebleness.
Eventually left the shop 45 minutes later after getting into conversation with the boss's mate who is a supplier to the shop and rabbitting incessantly for the whole time.
Strange how I HATE shopping for clothes and always get ratty, but once it concerns things that make a noise, I'm fine
Came back, did a perfunctory sweep around the place. Still looks like a bomb has hit it, especially where DD2 has dug DD1's case out from under her bed (she took my perfect, small suitcase on wheels when she moved out, along with my sunglasses and hasn't returned either:mad:) and thrown the soft toy collection that was stashed inside it all over the living room. I daren't set foot inside her bedroom, as she said quite clearly that she had decided not to obey and pick the clean washing up off the floor, but that she was going to pack her case instead.
She may therefore find herself going on the schooltrip with no knickers and dirty clothes, because I'm not doing it for her.
Wish I was going to Glastonbury. Once I pass my driving test, I think I shall, [STRIKE]taking DD2 out of school[/STRIKE] finding DD2 has a tummy bug from the Wednesday. Maybe even getting a camper van again.
But I have a cracking headache for some reason. Usually that means there are thunderstorms on the way.
Oh well, I shall neck some painkillers with a cuppa before collecting her Ladyship from streetdance.
xxxI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Afternoon campers, I'm sitting here rather chuffed with myself
These pictures will show you why
Ok it's not a major deal but I have never before worn polish on my own nails before, normally they have been bitten, false or too brittle to grow. I have been painting them with nail strengthener ever day
without fail and this is the end result - I am so please
Thank you to everyone for the anniversary wishes, it's been a quiet day but DH is due home from work early and hopefully we will have a takeaway for dinner, and a quiet night in.
And these arrived by courier about an hour ago from DH
Sorry they are so big, I tried to resize them but somehow I couldn't get them smaller enough
Am off to my friend T's shortly, she is going to help me to compose an email asking for my money back from "toxic". I have had enough and as I am strapped for cash I am calling in my owed debts. And I don't care if she throws her toys out of her pram when she gets the email, she should have offered to pay me when Fred was put to sleep back in September, seeing as he was her cat and I was only looking after him. Also we are drifting apart big time now, and she has got herself a fella and I only found out by logging onto FB and finding out that way. I thought we were supposed to be best friends yet she doesn't tell me about this major thing. At least I now know where I stand
Onto my list:

Declutter Challenge 2025
DH declutter challenge award 🏅⭐️0 -
Afternoon lovelies – sorry I’ve been missing in action. The BD took hold last week and spent a lot of it crying and feeling sorry for myself. Which makes me feel a complete kn£b for being so pathetic seeing LL posts and toots who is always upbeat and all the other lovely flyladies who have longterm illnesses. Work was sh$te as well, especially boss who for a young woman; doesn’t seem to have an ounce of compassion in her! But that’s another story. Then best friends hubby has been cheating on her, she drew up along side his car Saturday in her car and witnessed him snogging another woman! As you can imagine, that didn’t go down well, so had a sobbing friend all weekend. They seem back on track, but who knows. This week I’ve started to feel a bit better!
Anyway:
LL – saw your post and I don’t believe you when you say you are not brave; you certainly are young lady. Can’t do better than what the others have said. You can have ALL my spoons and hope you have a fab time at Glasto and that weather stays good for you
Toots – hope you had an ace time at the retreat. Your brave with the whiskey as that’s one of very few drinks I can’t stand! You sound busy – don’y be doing too much lady!
Valli – is there a man on the horizon? Must of missed this last week. If so, I’m very happy for you
AJ – WTG you! Hope you get the tickets sorted
GnB – hope your results are in soon. Don’t be disheartened on the C. How’s LO?
MissH – that labelling thingy made me laugh sorry!
Piggers – congrats on the nisi!
Natty happy anniversary to both of you
Jo – hope you do well on the challenge and that it’s not too hot for you
Lamew – hope you both have a good time when you are away. Wish I could join you instead of being in this sh$tty place of work!
Newlywed – hope your new job goes well
Sorry everybody else – can’t remember owt else! So love and hugs all round.
DH is hopefully getting signed off tomorrow by the doctor after having 3 weeks off after his op, so should be back at work Monday on light duties only DD2 really fed up now and extremely hot, 1 week exactly to go. I may even get a fab birthday present if she is a day late! DD1 has a new boyfriend after the last one that treated her appalling at the end, still no sign of a job after being made redundant beginning of this month. Danny – he’s doing fab! :j:jHe can put his weight on his leg now and do a weird walking job – but hey – it’s walking! Skin graft still not good, though loads better than it was. He’s back at Selly Oak next Wednesday, then up to Catterick the 29th to see a doctor and a physio.
Done minimal flying but still looks okish. This morning I’ve waxed my legs, s/s’d the kitchen and bunged an enormous chicken in the slow cooker with garlic shoved in the neck and some herbs. Having it with salad tonight and new potatoes, then made into a myriad of other stuff tonight in good old style fashion! To love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0 -
Oooh! Lovely nails! Well done!
I had that exact green stone ring for my engagement ring to DD1's Dad - came from a little jeweller's in Cromer. Gave it to DD1 when she was 16.
Doesn't it make you feel your hands are just soooo nice now? I stopped biting mine about 18 months ago after 30 years and still glance at them occasionally and think how good they look nowI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Gran other people's problems ARE huge but they aren't YOURS. So yours loom large in your life...don't feel guilty/pathetic you have enough on...it is so NOT a case of 'her life is harder than mine so I must be happier than her" - oh I have put this so badly! HELP!
and to your question yes and the particular horizon's around your neck of the woods...I'm happy for me too. It's been a long time!
and Natty WTG on the nails! A triumph! Now Piggers'll be along in a bit to give you tips on how to get proper talons LOLDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yeah....the bathroom is spotless! I've also washed the outside of the conservatory down....it's white again! It looks almost new and as it had been bugging me forever I'm very happy.
Does anyone know if I can wash the vertical blinds in the conseratory in the washing machine. The thought of doing them by hand makes me want to cry! Was thinking of trying one on a delicates watch....any thoughts.
Off to have a bath as i'm filthy and I want to claim the first bath, lol!
Sorry to post and run but not having much time to read at the moment. Speak soon and hugs to everyone xx
ETA - just found a thread on washing blinds...half say washing machine and half say don't. I'm going to risk one of them and see what happens xx0 -
Natty well done you, on growing your nails. I've never bitten mine, but I only have to look at them and they splinter; what strengthener did you use? I love your rings, btw, specially the Celtic knots.:o
Carlsberggal (((HUG))) you've had a lot on your plate recently, you're just getting the fallout from it. Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm so pleased that Danny is managing to walk, even if it is knock-kneed-ostrich style for now.:o
