Well hi again. I used to sign in as BenW but have now registered in my own name, as it was confusing to end posts with 'Ruth', when people wanted to call me Ben all the time.
Last time I posted was in March, when I lost my mum. A lot has happened since then and I can only give a brief over view.
But first, I want to say hi to all the familiar names still here and welcome to all the new ones as I skimmed through this weeks' thread.
After Mum died, I went to Prague for a holiday with my OH. I got back at midnight; they shut the airports 12 hours later! If they hadnt, most of what has happened since wouldnt have happened. At 8.30am I got a text from a friend who 'didnt want to intrude', saying 'Ruth, we need you; A has resigned'. A was the Chair of a national charity of which I was Vice Chair. They were aware of my circumstances and so the secretary was prepared to take over until I felt able to take the reins. I thought it might be just what I needed to take my mind off Mum and so I agreed to enter the fray there and then. The charity is in meltdown at present, so it was not going to be an easy task. Since then, I have been working 16 hours a day for the charity (not getting paid either!), every day of the week except Sunday (had to keep one day to myself!) Things are now on more of an even keel, so I have decided I need to get back to decluttering my home!
My OH bought some wardrobes for the bedroom (need building) and some cupboards for the pantry so we can start getting things tidied, such as our clothes! So the plan is that I will spend some time each day doing the work for the charity and the rest decluttering. I had intended to take until at least September off work anyway (work for myself, so not hard to take time off) and this is therefore the ideal opportunity to get on top of the mess that passes for my home.
Well, that's all for now. Will post tomorrow and hopefully have some cleaning done.

Not much done today. Was away for W/E, so unpacked bag after breakfast, then rushed around loading WM and dishwasher before driving over to DD4 to pick up some things to take to DH in hospital. Spent 3hrs with him, came home, got myself lunch, then did two more loads of washing, including DH's big bagful that I brought home with me. I'd left what seemed like masses of clean clothes when I saw him on Friday, but he'd gone through the lot!
After hanging out all the washing to blow in the breeze, I made some phone calls, then I got the bus in to town to go to Mr S. for a few essentials. Also called in to a carpet/flooring shop, and a man will come tomorrow to measure up, as I want a vinyl floor laid in the bathroom. Didn't get back until it was time to cook my evening meal.
Dealt with the dishes after, then sat and watched Springwatch. Have had a couple of phone calls since, so here I am, not having actually ahieved very much.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
