can I ask (while i remember). most of my post offices when i ask for POP give me a receipt, occassionally they write the postcode on this, most of the time I do.

they are literally proof i posted an item but certainly have no details where the parcel was sent to. have they been giving me incorrect paperwork for the last year???

hey, when I used to just get a POP this is exactly what happened to me too. I would just write the postcode on, which is what the man serving me told me to do. So you definately havent been given the wrong paperwork as that was what I used to get.

But after I had a couple of troublesome buyers I started sending everything recorded so I get the slip with the postcode on. People have said that a POP is enough for paypal, but seen as I was told my tracking number wasnt good enough becuase it didnt show the address then Im unsure how a POP would be enough as you could write any postcode on couldnt you? Saying that I won so maybe to show I posted it was enough, they were just trying to help me with my case more by saying if I could prove the address too. Ive only ever had the one chargeback so I dont really know the answer the that.

Don't get your disputes muddled up.

For a stright paypal chargeback you need proof of delivery, and that proof must be available online. Recorded should be OK for this but in reality it is useless as it rarely tracks to the point of delivery so you would still lose a paypal chargeback.

For fraudulent use of a card all you need is proof of posting.

As for using recorded I love my competitors using it as it makes my postage look so much better and means i cna get so much more for my item than they can. If i honestly thought every buyer was dodgy I would give up on ebay. 120 parcels a month would cost me £88.80 to use recorded, I'd have to lose a great dela of parcels to make that worthwhile.

POP used to be good enough for an unauthorised use of a CC, but came across this recently so unless I am reading the policy it looks like tracking is now required

    2. Unauthorised use of credit card
    You should provide:
    • Tracking number for delivery of the item

Whats the difference between a straight a straight paypal chargeback or fraudulent use of card?

I cant remember what the reason for the chargeback was (it was over a year ago now) but it was when the credit card company reverses the payment and paypal sent me an email with some questions and said if I could tell themas much as possible so they could appeal against the chargeback with the credit card company. My parcel didnt show as tracked just said it was being processed through the system still which is why no postcode was showing up.

If I was a business seller I dont think I would use recorded as, like you said,l if you send a huge amount of parcels then if one goes astray or you get a buyer claiming they havent got it when they have this value is offset anyway. But Im a private seller and for one item to be 'lost' would be significant to me. And its already saved me hassel when one buyer claimed to have not recieved a £30 item yet it has been signed for. I sent them this information and they never replied and never left feedback which makes me think that they were possible trying it on as if they had genuinely not known someone else in their house had signed most people would message back apologising or explaining and then leave fb. I think its personal preference really.
