Hi. I could do with some advice (and yes,ive already tried both ebay and paypal, who were no help!).i sold 4 items about 2mnths ago to a buyer in ireland. they left positive feedback for 3 of them straight away.about 3 weeks ago the buyer sent me a message saying that one of the items wasnt as described.i tried my best to be fair, but i knew what id sent.they opened a claim with paypal and told to return the item for a refund.they never sent it and couldnt provide tracking info,so paypal decided in my favour and released my money(which had been placed on hold).this morming,i get a message saying that this buyer has informed them that the transaction was unauthorised and theye been to their bank and somehow reversed the payment.ive rang paypal and since over 2 mnths later and after ive been left feedback,i dont have the postage reciept,im cant prove they were sent the items.its ludicrous since they made a paypal claim against on of them! what on earth do i do? this persons obviously on a scam. ive lost my money and my items. any ideas greatfully appreciated.

I would agree Custardy except that common sense should tell PP that if the buyer claims a not as described and loses it, how can they then claim that it was an unauthorised transaction!? The buyer cant have it both ways, he either didnt authorise the transaction, OR it wasn't as described, it cant be both. Also, why leave +'ve feedback for an unauthorised transaction?

Also, I'd have binned the reciepts once +'ve feedback had been left. Maybe thats wrong but in my eyes if there's feedback left, no claim can be made for non-delivery

PP need to get their head out of their backsides and look at the whole picture

Not much help I know, but keep on at PP, phone them and calmly point this out

    Good luck

keep on at them, you may be able to persuade them of the evidence from emails etc. good luck!

actually have you thought about calling them and having a chat about this? in my experience this has stopped people hiding behind the internet and made them realise they have acted a idiot!

Just a reminder really, proof of posting and all receipts should be kept for a minimum of 180 days.

I would harrass paypal a bit on this one actually in view of the earlier unsucessful claim, but I wouldn't hold out much hope without proof of posting.

I'm afraid Paypal and common sense don't go together. Without proof of posting the OP will lose.

I guess you are not doing this as abusiness then, because all items from business need to be kept 6 years.
Get onto the UK financial ombudsman. You can get their number online. You can ring them and they can take a case on for you. They will contact PP and send you copies of all correspondence.
There is a place on PP to tall them you are going to raise a dispute with them. Do that first. Then go to the ombudsman.

I would definitely phone Paypal & ask how someone can leave + feedback, then claim a SND, lose that & then claim an unauthorised payment. Have you checked with Paypal that the address you sent it to was the correct address? Actually just re-read it & as they emailed you, I assume it was.
Are they claiming back on all the items or on the 1 that they didn't leave feedback for?
If I had been left feedback & then Paypal had found in my favour against a buyer I probably wouldn't still have my POP.
    Phone Paypal though, not message.
    Good luck

Firstly feedback is totally meaningless and will not be considered at all in any feedback dispute, the fact that it was left on this occaison does not help the OP.

As for the address again it is meaningless as OP cannot prove item was sent, and that is all she would need to do to defend this claim. If she had kept her pOP showing the item had been sent to the paypal address she would have won, as it is she cannot win unless paypal make some sort of goodwill gesture.

This is a claim for fraudulent use of a card, so think it through...even though this claim seems to be 'wrong' and is probably designed just to get a refund, think of it in a genuine case. Buyer gets their account hacked, hacker wins and item pays via the hacked paypal account having changed the address on it, and then leaves feedback. 'Real' buyer gets back control of their account and instructs their bank to stop or recover all fraudulent payments made. If you were the buyer who got hacked would you like your bank to not recover your money as the hacker has left feedback?

Paypal act very fairly in these circumstances, they don't even aks the seller to prove that the hacker has the item all they ask for is proof that the seller sent the item in good faith to the address that paypal gave them.

Now you see why not bothering to keep pOPs is a bad idea.

That's pretty pointless really as Paypal are adhering to all stated terms and conditions and as Soolin has said Feedback means nothing, The ombudsman would do nothing
