Cheap tools are not false economy, I can quite easily break titanum screwdrivers all on my own

I don't know my own strengh sometimes

They are in fact £4.99 + VAT = £5.86 in Makro from Wednesday (if you want screwdrivers that won't last that is!!)0

This is a crazy thread....
The screwdrivers are chrome vanadium - same hardness as most screwdrivers unless they're really cheap - and harder than any screw. Main problem with cheap screwdrivers is that the handle can seperate from the shaft if too much force is used. I agree with the previous post - JCB tools are generally reasonable quality - and the reviewers on amazon are happy with them. Can't really go too far wrong at that price... Thanks OP0 -
Thanks for the post OP, I bought one of these sets a few months ago for £14.99 from Focus and it was really quite good quality.
Unfortunately when my car got broke into it was one of the things that got took, but now I've managed to get another set for almost half the price.
Thanks!!Dear Lord,
I pray for wisdom to understand my man, love to forgive him and patience for his moods, because Lord, if I pray for strength, I'll beat him to death. :rotfl: :mad:0 -
wow, great pressie idea....not sure what can go wrong with screwdrivers..looks good to me. Thankyou0

Just because they're cheap doesn't mean they're rubbish.
For all those that have made derogatory comments about these screwdriver sets, is this based on experience of these actual items? Or is it, as I suspect just knowitall, unhelpful sweeping statements that are ultimately unfactual as you don't actually have any experience the specific product at all?
Remember, not everyone wants to spend £28 on 4 'professional' screwdrivers that will last 100 years.
Most importantly of all, they look like they cost loads more for when we give one to the father-in-law for Xmas. Woohoo!BE NICE - IT'S FREE!0 -
thanks rizla01 the start of the xmas shopping has now begun, not sure who's gonna get them though lol0

the pieces posted above could scarcely be used to change a plug. they simply wont last 5 minutes and would neep replacing every after every other job.
Take it from someone who knows, cheap tools end up costing you more than expensive tools- but if you have money to burn then go for it!
There's a fellow who knows what he's talking about.
Honestly, if these things were made of quality materials, do you think they'd be so cheap?0 -
I would just like to say thanks to the OP for this spot.
I always love the "you get what you pay for " rant. Like the time the guy at helibeds tried to justify a bed that was £900 over my budget of £200.
Suffice to say the "cheap" bed I now have is perfectly comfortable and the other £900 went on a HOLIDAY!!!
Back to screwing... I have never had a set that outlasted their usefulness. Either I lose them or I break them doing something I shouldn't. Anyway that's enough about my perversions.....;)"A goldfish left Lincoln logs in me sock drawer!"
"That's the story of JESUS."0 -
By the way - does anyone who's bought one of these know if they do a left-handed set?You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
