Turntable to Laptop connection

Hi All,
Thanks everyone for your imput most appreciated. To clarify,my LT only has microphone & headphone input/outputs so i presume as albertross states i could damage the LT with an amplified input. I have decided to go down "expresso" line and get the cheap 2 phono in/1 - 3.5mm out from maplins. This of course means i have to have a new LT with a line in connection but what the hell you can pick up good ones now very cheap and i was thinking of it anyway. The Pinnacle Dazzle is also an option so if my eyes are bigger than my pockets thats another way.
Anyway i hope this thread has helped others who i am sure have loads of sentimental LPs needing dusting off and given a new lease of life.

cheaper than a new laptop
If you are going to maplin, ask them if they have got any Line level to Mic-level attenuators, someone is bound to produce them commercially.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

There's quite a few cheap usb options for audio inputs these days. Check edirol, behringer, creative. I'd look up the links but I'm not on my normal internet connection at present and this one costs by the minute.0

Audio interface options include:

The Edirol UA1EX (costs about £30) - not sure I'd recommend this because theres a lack of control of input levels.
The cheap Creative external Soundblaster Live. This is £31 in Comet.

I think Ebuyer do some really cheap options as well.0
