Griffin Imic Advice Needed

The Gadget Show made converting my old 'A-ha' tapes to mp3 files look so easy! Have just bought and tried to connect the Griffin imic to my laptop but the sound's still coming out of my midi system when I press play on it. Audio leads running from back of midi system into imic which is switched to 'line' as per instructions but no joy. Under Sounds and Audio Devices on the laptop., sound playback and sound recording both showing as imic and MIDI music playback as 'Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth'. Am I missing something obvious? All help gratefully received...

are you sure you've plugged it into the correct port of the hifi, and switched any switches..?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
