Sorry Buffy.....needed to do a shop. She's 2 and I think Syrian hamsters' life expectancy is 2-4 years.
*hopes this doesn't sound harsh*
In my experience a hamster's life expectancy is about 18 months to 2 years, it is very rare for them to live longer then that, 3 years would be a feat - some breeders who are careful produce tough little hamsters but most pet shops wouldn't care. Books and pet shops tend to say longer as it makes them sound like better pets for v young children.
Its so sad that they live a short life, I miss my two more than I miss any other pet, Willow had such a hiliarious personality and Tabs was so cute. Both had tumours and it really was quite bad in the end. I was so grateful for my vet. they lived just over two year. One good thing about them is they are easy to medicate and medicines
tend work quickly too
Hope she is alright Suzy xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
It must be something hamsters are prone to then, as one of my daughter's hamsters died of tumours.
Changing topic completely - I finally watched the last one of Luther - really enjoyed it and hope they bring it back for a longer run.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Used to have hamsters, mine lived for 3 years but they were well looked after, as were the rats me and my mum had. I much prefer rats, more intelligent and love human contact.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

Very interesting and a lot rings true. I seem to be procrastinating for most of the reasons in the article and more. I think my main problem is that I've convinced myself that essays are horrible, stressful things when really, I quite enjoy the process of writing them once I get started. Also, the part about ignoring when you think you should write and writing when you're best at it rings true as well. Tbh, I work best in the evening but I tell myself that I should work in the day and sleep at night. And then spend 3 hours tossing and turning that I could've spent working. The idea of an un-schedule makes sense too, I'm terrible for not factoring in other commitments and then feeling guilty whilst I'm doing them.
