Dog ban at Druridge Bay and other beaches- Help

I guess that you will be horrified to learn that there is a proposal currently under consultation to ban dogs from almost all of our beaches, including Beadnell, Cresswell, Alnmouth, Warkworth, and Druridge, from May to October every year.

Please, please, please help, even if you do not visit these beaches, by registering an objection using the link below to the County Council's website.
I have been informed that the public consultation process is such that everyone is presumed to agree unless they object. We have a huge fight on our hands.
i help with a dog chairty 5 mins away from this, to lose this would have a massive inpact on events we hold not to mention loss to tourism in the area, we normally take 50-60 dogs down there everynite as a group after working hard allday , to see them playing and having fun makes all that hard worth while and 90% of these dogs are rescused
i love this place so much and the happyest times in years have been spent playing on these beachs with my dog, i have to go up here as the beach near me has this ban in place it would be horrid to lose like i have with the beach near me
Please sign this and past this link on to anyone you no or other dog forums
Thanks from me and all the dogs that have ever set there paws down there please do not let this happen

Did the survey-for all responsible owners and their dogs. And for my adored dog who used to love the beach0

We have dog bans on many of the beaches where I live during these months so that people are not pestered by dogs on the beach.
For every good dog owner there are at least two or three that don't pick up dog mess, allow their dogs to intimidate other people and their dogs and generally behave badly.
When the bans originally came in I felt that this was very unfair. However having had several years now to get used to it, it does mean that there are beaches where there are no dogs - perfect for people who have children who don't like or are afraid of dogs. Equally there are beaches for dogs so people who go on there can't complain about them running about.
I can see that this will make life very difficult for you - could the ban be applied say between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. meaning before and after these hours dogs would be allowed? This is how horses are dealt with during the summer months in our area and it works well now the riders have got used to it.0 -
I've had my say.It is not fair to penalise every single dog owner just because of the irresponsible few. Dogs need off lead exercise. What are owners supposed to do when there is eventually nowhere left to exercise their dogs? The Animal Welfare act 2006 makes it an offence to not provide for an animal's needs.
Dogs that don't get enough exercise can end up with behaviour problems and then find themselves at the sharp end of a needle or languishing in a rescue kennel somewhere waiting for a new owner. A new owner who hopefully has a few acres of land to exercise their dog!!!!!
Dog owners exercising their dogs keep our parks free from undesirable people so that the children can play safely.
Hope it helps.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -

i have to travel for a hour and a half to get to a beach were i can take ella in the summer we used to have half of the beach that was fine by me in reality kids should be shown what a nice dog and what a nasty dog is with the control of sensible owner and parents that are happy to see that,
my own girl is a gem this was the same puppy that was not wanted for apartly stealing the babys dummy she was one and for a working type lab so plesent she lies on her back and let my friends 9 month old stroke her with me holding her she loves dogs and is very respectful now
but i live a 20 min walk from my local beach i have moblity issues myslef and i dont own a car, the silly thing about this is the effect on tourism in the area hotels will lose out , i was planing on moving there end of summer if this goes in place i will not
the cleaning up i no what your saying but kids nappy barbaques glass bottles are always a problem and always will be to and as for the horses there not banning them so why dogs, the member of the charity are ALL respectful and pickup without question but has to be said theres no bins on the beach this could easy solve this0 -
Thanks its every responsable dog owner duty to help even if we never visit..Today is yesterdays tommorow0

I see glass and other human rubbish on the beach. Not seen doggy poop, or any trouble between dogs.
I've filled out the form.9/70lbs to lose0 -

This already happens in a lot of places. Weymouth in Dorset where I used to live has had this in force for 15 years. As a dog owner I have no problem with this. If it can save children from treading in Dog mess left by irresponsible owners I'm all for it0 -

these are often very quite beaches and 90% of the time its just dogs up there being walked
but some blame must go on the coucil for not providing bins on the beach also, and having a very active breed like a working lab springer etc you cant expect them to have 10 mins arount the block this drives breeds like this to behavoir issues and more dogs in rescuses0 -
I've signed we holiday in the area every year with friends, no dogs on beaches no visit from us I am afraid.0
