    Yep also with scam sites just try entering nothing and put spaces in the boxes and if it let you logs on then it a scam but if you get a error is the real site.

    I've reported it to Halifax in the way that I have posted it in the first post. I don't expect a response, but hope they look into it.

    Just to re-affirm, it was at the Halifax site that the pop up arrived, not an e-mail. I always delete e-mails straight away as I don't trust banking e-mails full stop.

    I doubt it ....... I think you've somehow logged directly into a scam site set up to look like Halifax. The legitimate site is never going to bombard you with the entity of security questions ....... and, in particular, the 'telephone PIN'. It's far from 'routine'

    It's a bit unclear from your post ...... but if you responded to any of the questions - I would ring Halifax asap.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

    Or the computer is in inffected with pop up crap or malware.

    Well, I went to the website and it may have been a pop up from something else, but I didn't put any details in as it alerted me straight away and i'm the most suspicious person there is.

    Contacted Halifax and will go in branch tomorrow as well.

    I think there's little doubt that somebody has infected your equipment with something rather unpleasant and typing in the web address for online banking has triggered its activation.

    I wouldn't waste your time going in to the branch over it. You won't get a technology issue fixed by a sales team.

    I need to pop in anyway, so will mention it when there. I expect to get blank faces, but that will be nothing different than usual.

    Hopefully the issue is gone now, although yet to try and log in again.

    Could you let us know what the Halifax tell you about this as it also happened to me last week.
    The first time it happened I closed the site down. I tried again the following day and the same pop up was there asking for the details before I could continue.
    As I could see that I was already logged into the Halifax site I put in all the details it asked for.
    I think I had better phone the Halifax as you've got me worried now.

    If your link to the bank is in your favourites then there have been instances where this has been compromised.

    Google halifax & go in through a link from this rather than through your favourites. But run virus & malware first

    you've just made quite a fatal mistake.

    you need to phone halifax and tell them what you've done, with the information you've given a fraudster will be able to change the address on your account.
