Halifax Online Banking - Security Issue

Hi
I have a pop up on my online banking today:
In order to provide you with extra security, we occasionally need to ask for additional information when you access your accounts online.
Please enter the information below to continue.
Your father's first name? Your mother's first name? Your place/town of birth? Full home telephone number? Your secret answer? The name of your first school? Telephone Number PIN
Now, this is concerning me a little as this may not be legit? i.e I have a pop up from a scammer who will then have access to my bank account once I have given them all my details. After each question is a box for me to fill the answers in.
Has anyone else had this from their Halifax account as of late? It may be routine but it has set alarm bells ringing.
Thanks

That looks very suspicious to me. My recollection from when I had a Halifax account is that those are the usual security questions they ask you to set up when you open an account, and that you may subsequently use when you log in. So you've presumably already provided the answers at some point?
Also, why would they ask for Telephone PIN number?
Personally, I'd contact them asap:

I think your concerns are absolutely spot on.
Don't complete this information and stop using your computer for ANY financial transactions, including shop purchases.
Run your anti-virus software.
This link is also helpful.0 -

Then it the real halifax site then after you enters these it will ask you on the next page for the following Please answer the question below...
Your place/town of birth etc or your fathers first name or your mothers.0 -
Stompa - Yes they are the security answers to the online banking and the telephone related ones will be for when you phone up, naturally. I can't even remember my Telephone PIN number for them anyway

I shall contact them, thanks for the link.
opinions4u - I'll not make any transactions online. Just one concern - flatmate's Halifax card won't work online, but will in the shops (and she has a very healthy bank balance compared to mine) We must both get to the bank and see what's going on ASAP.
I shall run a virus scan immediately.
samjef11 - I shall do, thanks. I usually type it in the address bar - halifax-online.co.uk and go from there.0 -

Yes, it did all of that, as per usual, however it wouldn't let me check my online banking details as I had to complete the pop up details before it would let me check balance/transactions. It wouldn't let me sign out either, so I had to clear cookies etc and close the browser.0 -
I have never had that happen. I cannot believe they would ask all that information after intial account setup in one go. Did you type the address in the url bar or did you follow a link?:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0

I typed the address in the address bar. I'm not even going back to anything where personal information can be compromised.0

I've had a couple of very convincing-looking phishing emails recently about my account with Lloyds TSB. Instead of the usual "Dear valued customer, we have detected several suspicious blah blah blah, please log on here" they've been sending official looking *forms* to complete amd email back.
They wanted every single detail about me, my account, my location, my family's names and almost my inside leg measurement.
Screamed scam - but they do seem to be getting more sophisticated.0 -
samjef is 100% correct; username and password then one question...no more.
You'll never get more than this and, if you do, it will be a scam. I would also send as much info as you can to the Halifax helpdesk so they can look into it. Will help other people getting scammed and please everyone
