I'm not the only one who doesn't agree. Pop over to the Health, Beauty and Fashion board and there is this advice from MSE....

    What it is for

This board is a discussion of all issues surrounding health, diet, nutrition and how they relate to MoneySaving. Discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments, how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable forms of discussion.

    What it is not for

It is very specifically and strictly not for the discussion of what to do in the event of certain medical problems. Please do not ask questions about this. If you're having problems use facilities such as NHS direct and your doctor to go and talk through what you should do.

Even though there are medically qualified people sometimes visiting these forums, I would ask them to restrain from answering specific medical questions.

Even though you know you are medically qualified, others don't. There is no way of proving it and this leads us open to somebody coming on, pretending to be a doctor when they're not and giving advice.

As such it is very important there is a blanket rule that nobody no matter who (not even Robert Winston) should be giving any form of medical advice or detailing what to do on these boards.

    Look, this is pointless.

How do we know that posters aren't talking rubbish when advising about debt / bankruptcy or anything else.

I simply said that they should be happy they may have a diagnosis. They can see for themselves on medical advice sites that it is treatable.

    I gave some positive advice.

My main point was to have a positive 'can do' mindset not 'cant do'.

If you want to pull that apart by quoting whatever at me that is ok.

I wont post any further on this thread and you can chat amongst yourselves on how best to obtain the taxpayers cash

You equate health with financial advice? Interesting. But I agree that a full stop is wise.

Look - people with far worse vitamin deficiency problems walk 10 miles for water in some countries.

I was making the point that the mindset should be to get treatment, recover and try to find a job!!

The OP seemed to be delighted in finding a 'name' for her condition and appeared to be interested in what benefits she could now claim.

I feel you are clutching at straws to knock me down.

I offered my advice, you dont agree - fair enough

For what it's worth - I don't see ANY medical advice given within this entire thread. What I do see - is people stating that just because the condition now has a name, doesn't necessarily mean she will get benefits because of it, but she can certainly now seek the correct treatment as prescribed by HER doctor, as they now know what it is. THAT is not medical advice, it's common sense. The OP came here thinking that because it now has a name, she would automatically be entitled to benefits because of it, and not have to look for work. Wrong - the benefits relate to the effect of the illness on HER, not what the condition is. All that occurred after that was some people giving positive encouagement that they know/work with someone with the condition - who has it under control and are now able to lead a normal life.

The OP's happiness at finding a name at it seemed to be misdirected into 'oh what can I get now', versus 'now I can get it treated and find work knowing what I would have to do to take care of myself'.

    Thanks AnxiousMum,

I wasnt going to post any more on this thread but at least someone can see beyond slating me for giving 'medical advice' which clearly it isnt.

    I agree with you entirely.

Lets hope the OP will take the positives
