Royal Mail compensation - purchase or sale price?

If it was me i'd send international signed for if you tell the po how much it's worth when you post it they can give you the extra insurance. I had to do this with a bag recently that sold for more than i thought at £120! PO gave me insurance upto £200 if it had gone missing i could have claimed from RM so you should be covered there. I paid £9 for this so i'd guess you'll be more than fine charging £13.
You'll find lots of different opinions on the best service to use as there are a few different services and lots of pros/cons with any of them.0 -

the problem is,If RM can prove they sent it out of the country.then what?0 -
custard, Royal Mail would still take responsibility. They are the original contractors. It led to a few countries being excluded from ISF with insurance after too many claims.0

If you read the community boards, and also the Amazon seller boards it appears that anecdotally it is easier to get compensation from RM for standard airmail rather than for 'tracked'.
With standard airmail RM doesn't know where it was lost, with tracked they can at elast say ti was out of their hands, and it seems at the moment that RM are really tightening up on compnesation claims. They also don't guarantee a signature anymore for airsure.
I personally will not risk anything over £41 going overseas. If I was desperate to send something then i would use a courier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Their original conditions still apply, though they are swamped with claims now due to distance selling.
RM are still responsible for the item, overseas or not. They have a reciprocal agreement with each country offering the services. Wriggle they may, they are still on the hook.0
