I can't work out why you are still getting the error message. It seems you've opened everything you need to.

The second part we can't answer on here (site rules). If you do a bit of reading around the net, you will come accross the answer to this.

That's ok I've found the answer ahem, "elsewhere" <cough> :o

I really don't know why I'm still getting these errors. I'll run through all the settings again in the morning and try it step by step.

Thanks for all the help I'm very grateful for it  :D

Oh, one last question (a silly question) does it matter that I switch off our router some times when it isn't going to be used, e.g. overnight?? I presume it doens't need shutting down or anything before having the plug pulled? :o

Personal choice. I turned my router off the other day (a quick reboot for 10mins) for the first time in two months. I use a wired router, wireless I'd be more tempted to turn off when I'm not using it.

in answer to the stuff about dynamic nat addresses, on a Netgear Router you can setup any pc on the lan with a reserved ip address e.g. 192.168.0.2 by entering the mac address into the lan ip setup, address reservation screen, so it can be forwarded to a specific ip rather than any.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

I had it running fine this morning after I revised all the settings. I've just got back home, started the laptop and it's whining about the firewall again  :(
