When I forward a port with my netgear router, it requires me to specify an IP in the "Send to LAN Server" (in the Firewall rules section)

My Netgear allows an option to apply the rule to 'Any' on the LAN, or WAN. This means I don't have to set a specific IP address. This is an easier setting (and one that I'd recommend to crabman).

OK I've allowed port 34465 UDP under the services menu and it's still saying firewalled.

Just got the following error when testing it: Testing port 34665 ... NAT Error

Is that a typo? you've got two port numbers there.

Three firewalls (hardware on your router, and two software ones), is a recipe for problems. I'd switch the Windows one off for a start. You don't need this along with Zonealarm.

Yes sorry that was a typo- it's 34665. Iv'e checked all settings to make sure typo isn't the prob!! :) Oh and windows firewall is disabled.

The settings I've used are "Any" like Rex, but the test is still failing  So I've done the router, configured that... the only thing I can think of is some obscure hidden setting in Zonealarm?? :o

    Ah ok

I have the any option in the WAN Users section, but if I leave Lan blank I get a popup demanding an address

Just found this setting on the router - under inbound services, what's the LAN server it should send to? It's currently set to 192.168.0.2 but I got this from going to the Start > Run> "command" > ipconfig/all > Default Server and it's the default server I've used... is that right or should something else go in the inbound LAN server option??

If you've set this to Any (through the drop down box), you don't have to worry about which IP addresses this is forwarded for. It will work for any computers on your network.

Just a thought. To eliminate Zonealarm as the problem. Switch it off for a moment, and try your program. If it works then Zonealarm is causing the block.

Don't worry about switching this off, you still have the hardware firewall (and will still be protected on the net). This is just a good way of finding out which firewall is causing the problem.

Nice idea :) I disabled ZoneAlarm and tried the test and still came up as NAT ERROR

Is the LAN Server IP setting ok if it's 192.168.0.2?

Open up a command prompt (DOS window), and type in ipconfig

Under your ethernet, it'll show you your IP address on the network. If this is 192.168.0.2, then it shouldn't be a problem.

That's showing up fine but I still get the NAT Firewall error :(

Something else I don't get is why the downstream is so pitifully slow but the upload to other people (seeding) is around 20k
