Does he not have a birth certificate? As neither a driving license or passport is compulsory in this country, it would seem unfair to not allow him because of that. Perhaps the application process would take longer, understandable if they needed extra checks, but you'd think there'd be some way around it! You learn something every day!!
My dad's only recently got a passport (when it started to be free for people of veteran age ...) and he's never had a driving licence - well not for 50 years or so! It hasn't stopped him opening bank accounts, he usually stands his ground politely and asks what they will accept. Sometimes it takes a manager to confirm that they'd like his money after all. My dad is fond of the line "I don't drive, and I haven't left the country since Mr Churchill sent me to Italy."

The bank needs to assure itself that he is who he says he is, and he lives where he says he lives. If he does not have photo ID, then they may require MORE ID documents than they would if he had photo ID. That's certainly the case for checking identity with the CRB, which is something I do at work: if you have certain documents I only need to see 3 forms of ID, but if you don't have a passport or a driving licence or certain other 'key' forms of ID, I'll need to see five.

  • Hi, I have been reading this thread for some time and it has been a great source of information, THANKS!:j

Hoping someone can answer my 2 questions.

Firstly, I registered with Pigsback about a month ago and already had a £10 betfair voucher, when DH found out he wanted to register too. I have referred him and he joined using the link but each time he goes to the home page, my accont details are there and he cannot log in. Any ideas? Im sure Ive read that others have more than one account, so am I doing something wrong?

Secondly, I registered for poker tonight and have a password, but do I use the software on my PC or go in through Pigsback? Either way Im not sure how to do it and was hoping someone could explain.:o Typical, tried to find this for about 20 mins before posting and have NOW found it. Sorry.

Sorry for the long post, but thanks in advance.

Use the software on your PC.

Log in go to Multi Table Touraments, click on piggy poker, then click on the orange box on the right to register.

make sure you log out of your pigsback account after using it.. if this doesn't work, clear your cookies and that should solve the problem..

oh, and its not wise to log into each others accounts straight after each other, this could appear that one person is running both accounts.. pigsback have been known to close the accounts of those they suspect of doing this.

    Hi, Katie.

Do you use Windows XP? If so, do you and your husband have separate "accounts" when XP loads up?

I suspect that if you create separate accounts on XP, your cookies will be stored separately from your husband's, and your problem won't exist.

I am not techie enough to know this for sure. Perhaps one of our more expert MSE-ers could confirm or deny my thoughts.

Watch having 2 accounts make sure you don't logon one after another or do exactly the same thing on them both. Myself and my husband had pigsback accounts and both were closed after emails saying that there were duplicae accounts on same computer etc. I rang pigsback and a very nice man said he didn't know why we had been sent the emails as our accounts were very different. He said a computer program checks for suspicious accounts and then they close them and the genuine people ring up. He did comment the computer is normally right.

Phew! Just did the poker thing. I guess it helps if you know how to play.

Won't be doing it again. Just hope I get my 500 points now!

Edit - 18 minutes later. My heart is still pounding. This was terrifying!
