Parking Charge Notice from TPS

I received this letter this morning and was thinking to pay up as to be honest I did overstay my time at the car park and the info they have (plus photos of the car leaving and entering) is correct. However, after coming across this forum and others like it I am now thinking to ignore this letter. If they have correct info and photos and I was driving the vehicle am I still within my rights to ignore this demand for payment ( £50 )

The only thing that confuses me is that if I go on the TPS website and enter the registration number of my vehicle and the charge notice number then it states that they do not have anything on file which mtches either ..... so that makes no sense at all. The company also has a different phone number to ring to pay on the letter and the website, plus a different address.

Also, would it be a good idea to simply return any more letters back to sender saying "not known at this address" .... would that stop them sending stuff.

Thanks for all your advice on this subject in these forums. It makes interesting reading and I am so glad I didn't pay up, although there is still a nagging doubt at the back of my mind that maybe I should.

You see that nagging doubt at the back of your mind.

IGNORE it as well as any letters.

Keep the letters and file and see how many red ones you can collect.

You make make paper aeroplanes as advertised from Watchdog.

Basacially IGNORE.

Usual advice applies:

• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore any threatening junkmail
• ignore any rubbish from powerless debt collectors
• they will give up after 4 or 5 letters
• it's a scam

TPS are well known scammers.

Make sure you show this to the registered keeper in case it's not you that will be receiving their scam letters.

I know I am being a bit feeble ( first time I have recieved one of these letters ) but does it make any difference that I actually did "commit the breach of contract" and that they have photographic evidence which also clearly identifies me the driver. I just want to be sure

You might have overstayed but they should be claiming reasonable costs.

If carpark cost £1 for 1 hour and you overstayed by 30 mins, that equates to a loss for the company of 50p.

Trust us it does not matter if you did commit the breach.

The car park is actually free for 2 hours ... and it was after 6pm when the shops were shut anyhow.

So did I when I stayed for 4 hours in a free 2 hour car park last year.:cool:

I got a private parking company (PPC) fake PCN and laughed at it. Then I got 3 letters and laughed at them. Then nothing.

These tickets are UNENFORCEABLE. Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Council or the Police (even then a Council ticket can usually be successfully appealed).

Forget it an ignore the letters they will send you pretending that they are going to take you to Court. I think TPS sometimes use Graham White headed notepaper (oooh, Solicitors, big wow!), and sometimes Debt Recovery Plus threatograms pretending to be a 'Notice of Litigation' (yawn...!).

Nowt to worry about. IGNORE the lot.

Definitely do not pay, do not appeal, do not send the letters back. File them for future reference to show your friends to make sure they never fall for this sort of scam either.
