Not many. First bear in mind it's the latest and greatest (or till iPhone 4 goes on sale) so there little chance it will get reduced through normal sales process. They currently don't need to discount it to sell it.

Secondly Apple do not like discounting, you rarely see any Apple device reduced in a sale. They tend to be recalled and go to warranty repairs/ web site refurbs. Apple is a premium brand and discounting would devalue it. The only tijme Apple tend to reduce prices is when a new model is announed but the existing one is retained, it moves down a price tier and the bottom rung tends to be withdrawn

That said there are a few minor discounts.

Quidco will get you 4% back, and check your employer, We get 5% discount. It's not much but about all you are likely to get off Apple.

OP has said they "want an ipad", so I don't think telling them "not to buy one" is the most useful piece of advice you could give. That's like turning round to someone who wants to buy a Mondeo and saying "buy a fiesta"; they want what they want and not what you want.

    My 2p:

I think that your best bet is to buy direct from Apple. Go through Quidco, as suggested by gjchester, to get 4%. That's between £17 and £28 (rounded) cashback depending on the model you purchase. It's enough to get a few books downloaded or some games.

It was a tongue in cheek comment I posted. I think you took my comment a little too literally. Probably because I forgot the :) at the end, I was on the train at the time!

Anyhow, there have been suggestions on the other thread of how to get a discount off the RRP. As Jimbms suggests.... Wait until the iPad has been released for a few months before jumping on the bandwagon. This will ensure the iPad is better stocked at more retailers to give you the best chance of getting a discount, otherwise you pay the price for being an early adopter. All the online retailers will release discount vouchers periodically so keep a keen eye out and grab the opportunity when it arrives. Look on HotUKDeals for new voucher postings.
  • So Cadguy - did you get one yet?

A few people suggested quidco but apple are excluding cashback via quidco for ipad's still. The only option I can see is PCworld who seem to have no exclusions. Has anyone tried ordering an ipad via quidco for instore collection? Should net around £17 quid cashback.

Planning to order when my 0% vrigin credit card comes through this week :D and pay off before the 12 month period.

There were a few in Bristol CEX which were slightly reduced. Check in your local CEX.
