What sort of student accommodation will he be living in?0

I haven't heard of student accommodation not being furnished with the basics, bed/desk/wardrobe. There should be a uni brochure at least of accommodation.
If you are catered, you just need bedding/pillows. Cutlery and cooking equipment. Coat hangers and a desk lamp are normally needed. Maybe a bin.
June is way to early to get stuff :P weekend before is pushing it.0 -
I think it's very very unlikely he'll need any furniture.
You'll have to ask him to look up what is provided in the kitchen, and buy accordingly. I recommend waiting until he meets his flatmates to buy things like kettles, toasters etc as everyone turning up with one just isn't necessary. And if someone else already has them (and doesn't mind sharing- you do meet funny people) that's less for you to buy!
His bedroom will almost definitely have a bed, desk, wardrobe, drawers etc, so he really just needs to take stuff to make it feel more like home.0 -
You think he'll miss your ironing? He won't! He just won't do any and not care0

2 years, Ironed once, fact! thats only because it was a pretty posh event.
Yeah toaster and kettles aren't worth it. Its much easier to wait and see, and if necessary the house will just all chip in a couple of pounds and get the cheapest ones possible.0 -
heya just thought id have a little input too, altho im a bit older now started uni in 2004, i know what you mean about starting now, i started getting my stuff together early but i am female so maybe that has sumit to do with it, id just start with the basics as every one else has put really bedding, although some unis provide a starter kit to the students so, you will have to see what they have. Kitchen stuff, pots pans, cutlery plates etc, i took a little chest of drawers but i have farrrrrrrrrrr too much stuff and still do now, i also took a pc and a tv altho the tv never even got tuned in, i took a stereo as well, but if the uni isnt too far from home he could always add to it anyways and im sure they will nip off to cheapo places like wilkos to pick up anything they may have forgotten etc?Been away for ages and feel like a newbie again!0

Aww, he's a big boy now - leave him to it. The basics will be covered and he'll soon work out the rest when he gets there0 -
