I don't think poppysarah is demanding that they do write, just recommending it as a course of action. Obviously in the OP's case, the Agent didn't seem to find it a problem to write. Possibly it makes more sense for and Agent to write than for a LL such as yourself. What's wrong with phoning and "when can I get the check done"
Why does the LL have to write?
I don't think I've ever written to my tenants.
I phone them, they phone me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

"Well, I DID phone them, your honour"
(Sounds of prosecution sniggering into their hankys)
You don't appear to grasp the fact that you can get on with people do you.
My gas certs are fine, I don't need to write to people.
Obviously you would.0 -

You seem to equate "get on with people" with threatening to kick their door in if they don't comply with your wishes. Where did you learn that??? "Make friends the Reggie Kray way!"0 -

I certainly don't waste my valuable annual leave waiting around for gas inspectors/plumbers etc; the advantage of renting is that the agent can issue the keys.
well, I don't want anyone to just to whatever in my home, in my underwear drawer, in my fridge, wherever... and I have small things that have an emotional value for me, can I claim that back if they disapear?0 -
Why post this question before discussing with the agent? Is this a serious matter that really requires in-depth debate, 39 replies!!! without first seeing if it is really a problem.
Of course you are within your right to ask if it can take place AM or PM, I just don’t understand why you felt the need to ask here rather than check with the agent first.
At least you now know that you can sue for harassment and change your locks, although of little value if you snuff it due to a faulty boiler.
Although some posters provide damn good advice, so many others lose prospective whilst some haven’t got a clue. I hope those seeking advice can separate the wheat from the chaff.
For my part, you will be pleased to know – I am off, never to return, to become more productive in my work and to provide for firmer financial foundations for my family, rather than being unproductive reading/replying to these posts. This will allow my children to go to private schooling, holidays, live in a better house with a swimming pool and tennis court. I can make it happen.
Final Note – Rather than look to see who much money you can save, which is what this site is really about; establish your worth, get a better paid job, find an employer who will put a greater value on you and if that means retraining, then DO IT.
Have a nice day:)

I am trying to understand your post: so if i can't afford a house with a pool and a tennis court and just rent a flat is because I work less and I am less trained???
I have phoned the agency, they haven't given an answer, they said they don't know how much it can take, I insisted and they said someone will call me back today.
I asked here because I do not know what the law is saying (I am not legally trained), if they are right to enter when I am not in, If it is a normal practice to be given a 6 hour interval, I do not want to break the law , but I do not want to be taken advantage of.0 -

Just ignore that last post. There is nothing constructive to be gleaned from it.0 -

I've rented for years, and it's honestly never occurred to me to worry about workmen authorised by the lettings agency (usually their in-house handyman) sorting stuff out at the property while I'm at work.
Just trying to reassure you that you shouldn't assume the worst. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
OP - just confirm *in writing* to the LA that you wish to be present & state that you don't consent to them gaining access to the property in your absence. Request that they give you either a morning or afternoon slot, and ask for the workman's phone number so you can confirm direct. Keep a copy of your letter. There should be no need for antagonism on either side but the wording of their letter clearly shows that they are ignorant of the law.0
