A quick update......I called CCCS today and spoke to a very helpful lady. turns out as i'd marked down I was behind on 1 of my bills hence why I didn't get the info pack emailed. once i'd amended this mistake I got the .pdf through and clicked the button that said SUBMIT FOR DMP so am waiting for the paperwork to come through so I can sign and return.

In the meantime I'm following what was included in terms of getting statements from all the payday loan companies , trying to set another bank account up and drafting letters to the various companies.

I have 2 payments totalling £70 coming off my debit card on Thursday this week and am thinking about reporting the card lost so no payments can be taken off it. I need that money to feed myself / get to work, what do you think ??

Hi, just seen your posts. I'm 2 months into a DMP in which I had 11 creditors, most of which were payday loans. I'll tell you my story then you can decide if any of it's helpful for you!

My debt totalled around £12,000. A large chunk was a loan but I had about 8 payday loans, I hate them with a passion, they got me trapped so badly and I sense the same happened to you!! They are used to people using DMPs, despite their scare tactics, don't let them get you down please, I used a company which asked for a fee on a DMP purely because I had so many creditors. I'm not saying using a fee free one or a fee one is better than the other, but my judgement told told me I couldn't afford to be messing around with 11 different creditors as it would send me mad and a fee paying firm tries so much harder because they need to keep you onboard so you keep paying them. 2 months since I first applied for a DMP every single company has agreed to it. No phonecalls, no letters. All sorted.

The payday companies are usually quite good at accepting DMPs despite trying hard to get all of their cash, pounds till payday were amusing to say the least, I have a good sense of humour and managed to laugh off most of the jokers who try and get you to pay the full amount, one accused me of fraud and said he would take me to court, I just said 'ok' and went silent, he had no comeback he was never going to take me to court for fraud! Out of interest which firms did you use? I can't imagine they'd ever take you to court if you offer them a DMP. The amounts on payday loans are rarely much more than a few hundred quid and it's not worth them taking you to court. With a DMP they will get their cash back, it's not like you're going bankrupt.

You've done the right thing, no more seeing all your wages just vanish on payday in high interest charges. Those companies should be closed down IMO. I feel a MILLION times better having done a DMP. I'll be out of it in 2 years. I know my credit rating will be screwed for 6 years but it was never get to get any better whilst in the payday trap, those firms don't even bother telling the credit score companies that you're succesfully paying them back.

Yes cancel you card and get your wages moved to a new account, vital you cancel the card otherwise you might go overdrawn at your bank!
  • Hi everyone, hope that you are all o.k.:)

My first payment goes to CCCS today but yesterday I lost my job:eek: I have been made redundant! I will have a decent amount of money coming to me that will keep me afloat for about 5 months. My dilemma is do I let CCCS know now or hang fire and hope that I get a job quickly in which case I would then be able to offer them a lump sum to pay towards my debts.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Ellie xx
  • Hi, I haven't been on for a while and have forgotten my number - will look it up in a minute, but wondered if anyone could help! I am looking for some sort of template letter to send to creditors when they do not acknowledge your DMP and just ask for more money/complain you haven't met your minimum payment!! Can anyone point me in the direction of one please - I have a feeling I'm going to have to send several! Thank you.

    M
  • Ellieseleven Personally I'd tell CCCS and send tokens for a while, keep the extra as emergency cash in case anything goes wrong, or like you say lump sum when you get a new job.

Manicmiz I'm not the best at letters but there might be something here to use, if not someone else will be along shortly.

Ok, one little bit of advice I'd quickly do is to go on the websites and see if you can change your telephone numbers at all, right I know this isn't good advice in some peoples eyes but these companies will go mad in the initial weeks and you want to keep it maybe toned down to just one phone (mobile maybe?) instead of your work one etc.. Lending Stream even tried to add me on Facebook!:rotfl:They are pretty ruthless these firms but don't let them break you down. Have you got the DMP set up yet? As soon as you do the company will give you a telephone number and reference. When anyone rings you just give them those details. Don't worry about being rude. Juse stand your ground and tell them who they have to call. If they ask for more money just say you don't have any and it's being looked after by a DMP. They lose interest soon enough. Chances are they'll pass the debt to a recovery team. But they try their luck in hope you buckle and pay the full amount back.

The payday ones tend to be quite bad at calling you up at work, it happened to me alot, I don't want to worry you but feel I have to tell you! A couple of firms told me they would ring me employers and deduct the debt from my wages. That is total rubbish unless you're going bankrupt which you are not. Again, more lies to get you to pay.

Out of the firms you've listed I had a debts with speedloan (although this was an actual loan, not a payday loan), uk payday, express payday and lending stream. All have accepted within 2 months. Out of interest how much can you pay back each month?

Oh and by the way, glad you're feeling better and your mind is at rest. It will become much better soon. You can't go on letting your hard earned go into these sharks mouths. It's soul destroying when you think a debt for say £300 has turned into thousands because of constant interest. I didn't even feel I could tell my partner or friends and family. This forum was a life save because it completely opened up what was out there for help, all very well googling DMP sites etc.. but there's more sharks out there waiting to snap you up when you're vulnerable. It's safe on here!!
  • Thanks for that I’ll go in and change my contact details where I can. Can’t believe they tried to add you on Facebook :)
I haven’t received the email from CCCS yet with the DMP agreement and template letter, it should be with me today at some point. In the meantime I’m getting the necessary statements together where I can. There’s 2 or 3 where I can get an online statement so I’ve taken a screenshot and printed it out, would this suffice do you think ??

I’m trying to avoid calling them where I can and asking for one to be emailed / posted to me as I’m sure they’ll catch on straight away to what I’m trying to do. I’m also going through the motions of trying to get another bank account as suggested in the initial email I got from CCCS. What happens if for any reason I cannot get a statement ?? Of the 11 creditors I have 6 statements so far and am keeping track of what I need to do / obtain in order to kick-off the DMP.

Although they will have my work number (landline) it’s a direct line and is on answer phone 90% of the time as I work from home most of the week. I did look into how they could get the cash from my wages and have been advised they’d need to gain an “attachment of earnings” which means them going through the courts, not sure how accurate this information is though.

The money with Speed Loan is actually a loan like you had not a payday job, I should have clarified that on my previous post :)

When I filled in the debt remedy tool it worked out I could afford £129 per month but I have worked it out myself and currently (and not likely to change) I could reasonably afford more in the region of £225 per month.
  • Online statements should be no problem, they just need to know the amount. I have no experience with CCCS as I was with Vincent Bond but reckon your experience should be similar. You need to get the statements across asap though, the quicker you do things at your end the quicker they will do at theirs and time really is of the essence if you’re going to do this successfully. I wouldn’t worry about phoning them and asking, I did it for most of mine and they never questioned it. If you were getting a loan out from the bank for example to pay off debts you’d do the same so it’s no issue. I couldn’t get statements for about 2 creditors, so Vincent Bond rung them up and got them for me.

Fine about your work number then, good news. I’m not going to lie I can afford to pay back about double what you can a month so this in all likelihood has probably moved my DMP quicker yours might, I can’t guarantee that though, and hope it’s not the case. People on here have offered much less than you though and still got accepted DMPs so again I wouldn’t worry.

I would very, very much doubt they will try and take directly from your wages. These are all unsecured loans and I just can’t see how it’s legal unless they go through the courts which is about as likely as me marrying Cheryl Cole this Christmas. They just wouldn’t for debts worth under £500 when you are offering something back to them.

If you can afford £225 then do it please, it will help so much. Obviously you don’t want to be struggling but you need to get these paid off asap and the bigger the amounts you’re offering to them the bigger the likelihood is they’ll accept. A DMP will still mean a bit of a struggle for a couple of years of whatever, but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. I was in the payday trap for about 6 years I reckon. Started off with the cheques then onto the online places. I’ve had to stop looking back and thinking where I’d be in life if I hadn’t wasted all my wages on interest to these firms as it gets me so down! I was watching a football match on TV at the weeknd and saw an advert for WONGA come up and I almost threw something at the TV!

Good luck, and keep us posted. I’ll keep checking the forum!
  • i support Blackpool and we're sponsored by Wonga so I have to suffer it every weekend:rotfl:

Luckily they never accpeted me for a loan
  • Does anyone know who Debt-Line are, do they have some tie in with CCCS ?? Since completing the CCCS remedy form over the weekend I've been bombarded with texts from them asking me to login to their website and today received an info pack with various forms included. They also have details of some of the debts I have (but not all) and am wondering where they have got my info from and if they are part of CCCS.
