Hi everyone, just a quick update from me.... MBNA have rejected our offer of payment and CCCS have written to us to say that this will now probably be defaulted and passed to a DCA. Normally I would have been absolutely panic stricken at this news but thanks to this site I'm just taking it in my stride and not letting it worry me at all:)

Ellie - pretty standard for MBNA, I've found. We have 2 accounts with them and they didn't accept anything and defaulted. Same with Santander. Seems like (to us) the bigger the company, the less they will cooperate. ah well....MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Hi Triggles,
Yes, we've got two with MBNA as well and both have declined our payments. Santander is another one of ours but we haven't heard anything from them yet.

MBNA are our biggest creditor too and will be getting about £100 less than they are now from us so i fully expect them to not accept our offer too.
On the bright side the quicker the default is registered the quicker it'll drop off your file lol (well i know 6 yrs is a long time but you know what i mean !).0 -
It is good to see what companies are doing for other people. We have a CC with Virgin (MBNA) and one with Santander so going by the posters above, it looks like we'll have problems with those.
I have also realised I am a dingbat and totally miscalculated childcare costs and tax credits (I can't concentrate with the children are around and being paid TC 4 weekly but everything else monthly takes me ages to get my head around it all!) so our surplus is even less. I have emailed CCCS to say this, but does anyone know what we have to do? I have only just got all the information so nothing is in place yet. It does make me a bit worried that as it is a lot less it will cause even more problems with companies accepting payment. It is only for a year though, then our payments can go up again.0 -

MBNA declined my paymenst too... although happily seem to be taking the reduced payment, and have stopped all interest and charges *shrug shoulders smiley*

I enquired with payplan about a year ago and in all honesty didn't find them very helpful.
Every question I asked I either got that they didn't know or an answer which didn't instil me with confidence.
They also contacted my creditors without my consent and approval which has now resulted in suspended accounts which isn't a bad thing because I can't use them but I didn't have the cards anyway as I sent them back so that I couldn't use them anyway. But I then ended up with calls everyday threatening this that and the other - mainly by MBNA.
CCCS made an appointment and then didn't call.
I know people who have done a DMP and used a pay for service, they don't even pay the creditors on time so then charges are added!
I am now back to struggling.0 -
Hi, I know I'm probably going to get shot down here in flames, but I just wanted to share my experience of a DMP I took out recently. Everyone on here seems to suggest using CCCS etc.. or other fee free DMP companies. I decided not to go down this route for a simple reason and one that has been proved worthwhile. 2 months into my DMP and every single company (there were 11) have accepted my DMP bar one, which is Barclays. This was with Vincent Bond. I have recieved fantastic service, email replies within an hour. If I want VB to ring up a creditor they do it at the drop of a hat. They have been persistant and they have succeeded. I done it this way because whilst I have paid them fees I am convinced that if I'd gone with the free ones they would've taken more time to get the creditors to accept and in that time my debts would've increased with additional charges/interest so would've rendered the whole saving money idea pointless.
Anyway, just wanted to tell my story as alot of people immediately dismiss the fee charging DMP companies but I think they're actually quite good and VB in particular were great.0 -

I got a letter from MBNA saying that the offer of payment was not sufficient and that they could not place us onto a formal repayment programme but to continue making reduced payments. In recognition of our difficulties they have waived fees and frozen interest.
CCCS have written to me since to say that the account will now most likely be passed to a DCADebt Free 1st March 2017

Hi
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm really pleased things are going so well for you. I think maybe most of us look to the free 'charity' companies because we're skint to start with! I also believe there is a lot of hype out there and it can be a trap for the unwary. You're very vulnerable at the start of a DMP (or whenever you realise the poop has hit the fan!) and a lot of fee-paying companies are like cruising sharks looking for a nice, juicy meal to gobble up!
Apologies because I'm not being cynical in your case. It's great to hear you are progressing so well with the help of your company. Best wishes to you and good luck. May you reach the end of your DMP soon.
