Thanks ianmak.
I spoke to CCCS at lunchtime and they have put my mind at rest. They have informed me not to answer the phone to MBNA and if I do (house phone is business number so have to answer) to not give any of my information so the call cannot proceed. I am hoping to get DMP set up for 1st October or may even make another month of token payments to try and get emergency fund. This past month has been a nightmare financially and have just been to Sainsburys to buy nappies and sons food on nectar points as have £5.50 in purse and five days till payday.0 -
Hitabrickwall I know just how you feel! I had a new baby 4 months ago and I had to return presents of baby clothes to Tesco so that I could buy formula! Our car needs 570 pounds spending on it just to pass mot! So I won't have an emergency fund either. Looking forward to my start date in October.:)DMP newbie:)Total debt £22,000 August 2010:eek:Debt Free by Sept 2016 hopefully!:jProud to be dealing with my debts0

:hello:Hello fellow newbies. Hope everyone is ok
I've had some more really positive news. LloydsTSB and Barclaycard have accepted my offer of payment and agreed to stop further interest and charges, as have Additions catalogue.
Funnily enough, the 2 creditors being the most difficult are the 2 I owe the least to. I owe Capital One £320 so I'm going to save any overtime payments and request a F&F after Christmas.
@anotherdebt- don't stress about your surplus income amount, the creditors can't have what you haven't got. Honestly I only have £61 surplus per month and this gets split pro rata to 7 creditors. So far 5 have accepted and have been very reasonable about the DMP situation.
I know its daunting, I still have moments where I could cry, but this is possibly one of the most positive things we will do for ourselvesEach time you smile, it'll only last a while.Life may be scary, but it's only temporaryEverything in life is only for now0 -
Hi everyone
*Insert confused smiley*
Today I received another letter from Metropolitan saying that First Direct have not accepted the payment offer on my CC/OD balance (£5335 - a combination of the two!) but last week they accepted an offer for the balance of my loan (£6241)
I'm sure they are all proportionate, but they're obviously not happy with it.
Do I need to let the CCCS know about these letters or will they send them a letter too? I have told them about the letter for the SO, and they have said to ignore it. Looking again at it again, the balance amount relates to the CC/OD rather than the loan... so it looks like they are changing their minds (2 days apart!)
I am also pleased to say that all the phone calls have stopped and that all contact is now in letter form only - so there is hope!
Take care all

Well have received the pack from CCCS so will be doing the letters today. Gulp.
I just wondered if anyone had any advice on how to do the token payments. Can it all be done online?
Also, I'm trying to work out what to give the CCCS regarding our loan. I have a statement that they send out yearly. We have paid 3 further payments since then. We called for a more recent figure last night plus they also gave us a settlement figure (as the current figure includes interest for the whole term). Which should we tell the CCCS about? Do I get loan company to send a letter with the figures on it?0 -
Hi - I sent postal orders so that I could send my covering letter from CCCS with the token payment rather than sending a separate letter and doing online - also I have debts with my old bank account and hadnt set up a new one yet.
All except 1 (Cahoot) accepted the payments and took them from the account - the only problem is that you get charged for each postal order ie 50p fee per £1 order and I had 17 creditors to send payments to !!
Best wishes on your new DMP journey.

Hi StartingOut, We too had a loan with the bank and I just sent in the yearly statement which we had (it's about 3 months old) and CCCS haven't asked for anything else in regard to this.
I sent token payments by postal order with my cover letter the same as jcorbygas
Hope that this helps

D/D is all set up with CCCS for the 1st Sept:) Although OH has been having some grief with one of the creditors ringing up a demanding that we pay up and why haven't CCCS been in touch with them.
Its been a rough 2 months or so, with missed payments and then the token payments; I know that none of the creditors have excepted anything yet but I do feel as though some pressure has been lifted today.
2 months ago I was in panic not knowing what to do or who I could turn to.
Luckily I stumbled upon this forum and especially this thread, since then I received good advise and finally begin to face the debts and start to deal with them.
I'd just like to say a big thanks to everyone here. :T :beer:DMP mutual support thread member:3880 -
Well done for getting your DMP set up Power chimp x0

powerchimp - well done - the first couple months seem to be the most difficult, as the creditors are pressuring you to pay and up the payments, even though they know you're going to be going on a DMP. It does get a bit better once the payments start being made, although then there usually is a flurry of letters from different creditors protesting that the payments need to be higher. We've been doing ours for over 9 months now, and the letters have slowed down considerably. Don't know about phone calls though, as we changed our phone number and didn't give it to anyone.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0
