Hi All
Well I've had a letter from the Halifax to say they've agreed to my monthly payment and that they won't add any more charges onto my account as long as I stick to the plan.
They do say there will be a review - but it doesn't specify when - and that they may pass the debt onto a DCA for a long-term arrangement.
So I didn't think that was too bad, I thought they might be harsher if I'm honest.
I haven't heard from anyone else yet thoughDMP member no 390

Update from me...
I was away all last week (booked 2 yrs ago for last yr but husband got ill so it was postponed to this yr).. Anyway i came home yesterday to find everyone has cashed the £1 cheques i sent but there were no nasty letters waiting for me.
Unfortunatly there wasnt a debit card from the Coop waiting for me either.. i rang them today and for some reason they forgot to order me one so i have to wait another 5 days for that to come.
2 Weeks ago we applied to Santander to open a business account with them.. day before going on holiday they assured me everything was ok and everything we needed would be waiting for us on our return.. well there is nothing so tomorrow i shall be chasing them up .
But on a positive note i have all the paper work etc ready to send off to the CCCS so i'll soon be able to make my 1st payment on my DMP and be on the road to becoming debt free.0 -
Aw sorry to hear about your bad news gf, hope eveyone and everything is OK/gets sorted.
You won't regret your decision and I couldn't believe how quickly everything was put in place. You pay your first payment by Transcash and then you can do a direct debit from thenon, I was told either the 1st or 10th.
I've just received my password for my account and all your creditor info and payment details are on there. It's really good to be able to see what's happening.
I thought it was going to take me 10 years until my DMP finishes, but looking at my account it actually says June 2019 - so I've lost a year already - hurray.
Good luck!DMP member no 390

Thankyou... well my cousin can sort my roof out hopefully.. as for Santander well if they are this incompetant at opening our new account i'm not sure i want to bank with them so i may talk to the coop tomorrow about there business accounts.
I am looking forward to getting started on the DMP and actually having money to spend on shopping etc each month without robbing one card to pay another.. good luck with your DMP xx0 -
You've been very quiet recently Ian. Smoke got in your eyes? Still overhung? Bad tummy from part raw barbequed sausages?
Hope all is well with you. I've missed you insulting me recently.
(And if you say you can't get a word in edgeways surrounded by all these women, I'll clock you!)
'Twitty'
Well it's nice to know you miss me...
In response...
1) I never mean to insult, I just sometimes have a fist in mouth moment.
2) I've been ill, and working too much, so haven't had time to respond, and haven't needed to with all the excellent advice on here.
3) I've spent time being the only male in a female work environment, and I occasionally realise when it's time to keep my mouth shut.
Hope everyone is well!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Also whilst i was away i managed to blow up my mobile phone.. come home to find the roof leaking on the extension and my dad spent 3 days in hospital last week as his stent is failing again.

Good news on the cheques/no nasty letters and being ready to go with CCCS - not so good news about further chasing up of banks and your Dad's stay in hospital. It's all going in the right direction though. I hope you had a good relaxing time away though.LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

Hi,
I dont know whether this has been answered already but im new here so please let me off.
I have had some issues with a balance transfer that I did a couple of weeks ago. I moved a balance from one CC to another to try and alleviate the financial issues but then realised I really needed to do more and signed up for a DMP.
Ive been told by Payplan (although I eventually chose CCCS) that the company that I moved the balance to would most likely refuse to drop the interest etc because of this and at worst would say I had committed fraud as I borrowed money I knew I couldnt afford to pay back !
Worth bearing in mind
Chris
Lets hope that that was payplan warning you of what might happen. Other peoples problems always look clearer than your own. I believe what you did was similar to me and to think of the credit as money and shifted it around as such.
Was this a new card you took an account with? Didnt they want you to run up a debt with them and then struggle to pay it back over time? Arent you going to do just that now? Lets hope they let you pay it back at that low0% rate they tempt people with.
Having successfully struggled to meet all payments so far
I am beginning to think that I should pay a token amount for a few months before setting up the DMP maybe some others can comment on this>0 -
pure_dead_dopey wrote: »Guys, if you are all just starting on a DMP and have so far never missed a payment, I would definitely send token payments (£1) for a couple of months. This lets you build up a wee emergency fund and lets you get priority debts sorted out. It will MAKE NO DIFFERENCE to how the banks treat you, trust me, but you will have a bit of money for those emergencies that do crop up. I know its hard if you've never missed before but you have to look after you and yours first, creditors come way down the list. Twitty I still think a quick look at UE for you would do no harm and might save a lot of money in the long run, PM me if you need Nid's new website.
Is this really the case? I have tried VERY hard not to miss payments and not paid council tax and water bills which are priority after all. What should my approach be then? write and apologise for not being able to make the payments and to send a token payment? or should I go with CCCS straight away = they suggested I do similar do this but let them send the token payments. Either way amounts to the same thing I guess.0
