  • Hi guys :) well I've been very busy since I was last on lbm is still firmly with me! I have opened up a new joint account with co op. So far phoned tax credits and family allowance to move payments across. I have changed account with work today and so has hubby phew. We have decided to send token amounts for Dec and Jan to make sure we are not in the proverbial! Just a couple of questions
Should we go to cccs or payplan my worries are really over overtime hubby gets an average 9 hours per week but sometimes holidays quiet etc 0.my hours fluctuate 12 hour contract but can do 20 sometimes and school holidays fall to 8.I also read somewhere that u can pay payplan weekly is this right? Cos we get paid weekly it may suit better.
Another quikie we got the co op current account can we open a savings linked to it so we can switch money for bills etc and switch it between accounts for bills.
    Thanks in advance :)

  • Hi everyone!

My self-managed DMP is off to a good start. Several Creditors have accepted offers and agreed to freeze interest. But what do I do about those who refuse to freeze interest and charges? I have sent them several letters but still a few refuse and are still charging me extortionate amounts each month!! Do I complain to the FOS or the FSA?? and is there a template letter for this?

    Thanks

    Anyone please?

I have read in previous posts that charges should not be 'punitive'. How this is decided I don't know, but the national debt line website has lots of templates. Creditors don't have to freeze interest but my understanding is that it is unreasonable for them to actually increase your debt month on month by adding lots of interest and charges. See post #3747

    Try here for letters.

Also as gyo says, creditors don't have to freeze interest, but neither should they be adding charges all the time.

It took six months of interest and charges for both my Overdrafts to stop charging. I think Santander also took a few months.

  • Hello, everything is going quite swimmingley here starting to get letter through saying that everyones accepting the payment plan that cccs has provided YAY!!!!!! only on that hasnt stopped interest is Lloyds but from reading other posts on here i was expecting this probably gonna be the same with my bank of scotland but hey ho they will stop it eventually.

got a quick question if you dont mind?

Our first DMP payment goes out on the 1st of january 2012 due to my hubby work cocking up cahnging his bank account over. So we agreed with CCCS that we would make our token payments for the month by send a postal order recorded delivery and some sort of letter to go with it.

First things first is there a template letter anywhere i can send as the one cccs sent me saying that im and dealing with them now and they will be in contact shortly doesnt quite seem appropriate.

Most of the creditors are expecting the 1st payment from the payment plan this month however I have only sent token payments this month and the plan begins january.

im panicking a little because i dont want them to go back on their word or mess up whatever progrees we have made so far ? I have rang CCCS and the lovely lady advised that i ring the creditors and explain to them that the payment plan with them starts january and i have sent my token payment for this month. I dont particualry want to ring them all but am worried that i will put the wrong inofrmation and drop myself in it if i draft a letter myself!

any help and advise much appreciated.

    thank you

p.s. this also how do i get a postal order sorry if im a total ding bat but we have 17 creditior do i go int he post office with the list and get the clerk to make one out for each or can i jsut buy 17 postal orders and then make them out myself.
  • Hi, don't be scared to ring them Fred - they've accepted the plan, they're not going to bring out the thumb-screws now! if they do get a bit uppity just give them your CCCS client ref and tell them to ring CCCS to discuss further.

Have you checked the National Debtline, although I suspect there isn't one for this particularly. If I were you I make sure the letter has the following: your CCCS client ref number, date, account number with each particular creditor and then just say something like:

"As you are aware I/we are experiencing some financial difficulties and are now working with CCCS to deal with those in the most appropriate manner possible. I/we appreciate that you have been able to accept the DMP put in place by CCCS on our behalf and would like to advise you that the first payment via the plan will be made in January. In the meantime, we would like to continue at least making token payment, so please find enclosed a postal order for £?'

Really, all you're doing is letting them know what's going on so they don't get twitchy! Don't make the token payment more than you can afford - it is really only a gesture.

From what I remember, either the clerk or you can fill them in - I'm pretty sure we filled in our own.

    PS - WELL DONE:T

I just printed the letter that cccs sent, filled out the details, and just put a quick note at the bottom saying i have enclosed a token payment with the letter of £x and that is all i can afford for this month

    worked for me
  • CCCS have set up my DMP which starts on 1st Jan and they are currently writing to all my creditors. I'm a bit worried though as all I've read are horror stories about Lloyds Bank not freezing charges etc and they are my largest creditor. I don't know what I'll do if they don't accept the offer which somehow I doubt they will. Has anyone actually had any success with them?
  • Hi devon-guy, I can't give you an answer really, we don't have Lloyds (one of the few we don't!) but I would say that there is little rhyme and reason as to who does stop % and who doesn't. For example, most people have had a nightmare with the Halifax, but they've been great with us (so far) on three different debts.

The best advice I can give is try not to worry about it for now
