    did you owe the money?

?Is this query aimed at me?

Then yes, I owed the money. That and more, which then became completely unserviceable due to a sudden redundancy, hence my being on a DMP.....
  • thanks for your reply SAAC. I was having a good root through the forum late last night and it seems to be quite notorious that the likes of lloyds tsb and natwest dont stop interest and charges.

We have a lloan for £3300 with lloyds and 2 seperate loans with natwest 1 for £3500 and the other for £1450 we also have a loan with bank of scotland for £2500 these are our 3 main creditiors has anyone had experience with these while in a dmp?

    thanks again

    xx

We've only BOS out of those. Their letters are fairly standard and, you might find, don't really relate to your situation. I found the debt / collections department quite helpful to phone. They quickly passed our debts to their inhouse collection arm - Blair, Oliver, Scott. They don't tell you it's an inhouse one and when you get the first letter (demanding full payment) it's a bit of a scare . But, BOScott have been absolutely fine with us, easy to deal with and stopped all % and charges straight away.

Well folks, today I've discovered a new and entirely unexpected benefit to being on a DMP and not having wads of credit cards!
Some b**t**d stole my purse this morning
Luckily, there was only about £20 in cash (ONLY!!! - that represents very nearly a quarter of my DMP repayment for the month.)
I quickly realised it had gone and was able to put a stop on my bank account, and report to the police, but it's a horrible experience, leaving you shaky and angry.
So only got to spend about £30 on phone calls now to replace missing cards etc......
Thank God there wasn't some shiny 'Platinum' credit card just waiting to be abused
Hope everyone is well and has a safe and happy bonfire night. :)

Hello ive been on a DMP since april 2010 with CCCS all creditors apart from Halifax and BCard stopped interest. I received a letter from halifax arrived yesterday (just to spoil the weekend) i was half expecting something as they only agreed DMP this time for 6 months till end Oct and I didnt get a statement in Oct. anyway a nice strongly worded letter pay X amount in 10 days or they may take legal action and/or instruct a DCA. I rang them and was told that they had accepted dmp till april but to expect more of these letters and that my account would be passed to blair, oliver scott before april. They did say that this would probably be better for me due to the interest they are still charging me! From £90 I pay £75 is interest! Whole thing has knocked me back a bit and totally wrecked the weekend. Anyone had this with any of their creditors and how did it go.

    Chin up chuck!
Personally haven't had any dealings with The 'Hellifax' but others on here have had plenty! :(
It sounds very much (from what I've learnt on here) that probably this can only be for the good. Do not be dis-heartened by 'coulds' and 'woulds' etc. They would like you to cough up the whole amount, and are just testing you haven't got it squirrelled away somewhere! (so search your pockets for lost pennies :))
You will probably find that what seems like a huge cloud now, will turn out to have a silver lining. Does it matter who you pay in name, as long as your debt goes down? If passed to a DCA your exhorbitant charges wil no longer be and you'll see real progress on your debt total reducing.
So be up front with them, communicate but don't let 'em bring you down ;)

Thanks for your reply. i wish i did have loads of extra cash hidden away to pay them (just had to borrow £3 for DS dinner money). I want to pay back all my creditors I got into this mess and so want to get out of it. the halifax lady practically said on the phone yesterday my account going to a DCA would be better for me ie paying interest and charges to them may stop so hopefully as strange as it sounds it may be a good thing in the end cause currently my total debt with them isnt going down at all. I've emailed CCCS to keep them updated. At the start of my DMP I hated contacting creditors mainly for feeling shame and depressed but I've soon found out that speaking to them isnt too bad at least I know what is going on and can stop worrying about what maybe going to happening.

Oooh, so you really haven't got £XXXX pounds tucked away then??? (being nasty creditor here :D)
I have always been a commited letter writer, and in the early days would never have been brave enough to pick up a phone. But it's as you say; going direct can work wonders. Be open, friendly and have your facts to hand. Don't be bullied and keep a note of time/date/ who you spoke to etc.
If I was 'Mystic Meg' I'd say a see brighter future opening up for you..........

I agree with what Twitty and Halifax say. I have three accounts with Halifax, and two of those were passed to Blair Oliver and Scott, and from what I remember if it's passed or sold to a DCA they have to stop interest. They are ok for a DCA and don't tend to bother you too much. If it does pass to them you will receive a letter and/or a phone call. The letter maybe scary looking or threatening but they are normally ok and a quick phone call to them will confirm this. They are normally open to full and final offers at any time.

    Hope this helps!
