Hello Everyone! I've not been on here for a while (life just got in the way) but for everyone who are nervous about their reviews I just wanted to say that we've just had ours and it was fine!:)

Our monthly payments have gone up by £60 as I have had a pay rise at work but this reduces our DFD by 18 months!!:T I've never been so happy at having to pay more! This means that we can now see (just) an end to our debt misery:) We still have a long way to go but seeing the time reduce is a great motivator.

When I think back 15 months ago, I couldn't see any hope for us but now thanks to all the wonderful people on this site there is a brighter future!!:T

    Take care all

    Ellie xx
  • Good Evening everyone.
A quick question, I am hoping you can help here where I do elsewhere on the forums.

Background: DMP - 4 active creditors; 1 loan had a PPI rebate which means it clears earlier than the rest. DMP payments have been maintained and I have never missed one.

Query: If the payment charges that have been imposed are taken off what is owed; I would only have paid the loan off about 2 months beyond the original settlement date. Is there any point (or templates) that I can use to ask them if they would be lenient on this basis?

I see where you're coming from here........ (Admire the thinking! :D)
There are some excellent template letters on the National Debtline site http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/debt_advice.php#6

Maybe you could use one as as a 'base letter' and twiddle it a bit for your needs?
Go push your case and good luck!

  • Many thanks Twithead; although there isn't one that fits I will use some of the contents of others to knock something begging up.

It is always worth a try with these things; especially when they paid out £4600 in PPI reclaim which has stopped my late payment charges being charged since February this year.

  • Afternoon Everyone!

I am a newbie but have been preusing this forum for some weeks now following our LBM.

We are in the process of setting up a DMP with CCCs who i must say are the most friendliest helpful bunch of people i have ever spoken too cant praise them eonough really. our debt will be paid off wihting 3 years hopefully. All paperwork has been completed and sent back to them i have notified all our creditors that we are going onto DMP with CCCS. So really just awaiting if they accept the proposals and when to make my first payment> Anyone have any idea the time frame of this possibly?

another question i have is regarding what seems to be a very grey area of dewfaults , ccjs, and arrangemnts to pay on your credti file.

both my husband and i have recieved defaults on a couple of the debts aleady and my understanding vague as it is, is thet they can only default you once on each account and that it will saty on your credit file for 6 years. So for instance my husband natwest bank has a default on it from August 2010 so it will drop off on August 2016?

what if we incur ccj's in this time which i am aware is a possibility whats the time frame on them? would be such a bummer if we got to the near end of 3 years and then they ccj'd us. but i am aware this is the risk you have to take. Also i was told that if teh file shows as an arrangement to pay this satys active on your file untill the debt is settled and then it 6 years from then that that willd drop off?

also how likely is it that we will get ccjs. we have a lot of creditor 17 EEK is there a formula that says if the debt is for a certain amount they wont bother with a ccj because it will cost them more int he long run?

my reason for asking is one of our goals we are hopeing to buy a house by the time we are 35 (now 27) i know a lot can change in this work in htat time but would it be very difficult to obtain a mortage.

believe me that is the only credit we will ever have again we have well and truly learnt our lesson.

Look forward to hearing from you

    thanks

  • Hi Fred (Rach).........welcome aboard!

I can probably answer a couple of your questions - the time from getting the paperwork back to CCCS to the first payment is usually fairly quick - they do not necessarily wait until each creditor accepts before starting payments so these start regardless. TBH, some of our creditors took ages before letting us know they'd accepted, in fact, we're a year in and we still don't have that in writing from some!

Re: defaults, my understanding is that a default can only be applied once, so, in many respects, the earlier in the process this happens, the better.

I'm not sure about CCJS but would say that I would think these are a lot less common when you're seen to be working with a group like CCCS.

BTW, I did a blog for CCCS about our experience of setting up a DMP, if you look up the info in my signature you should get to it.

    Best of luck SAAC
  • Hey my fellow DMP-Folk, how is everyone? We're good and our DMP continues to tick along nicely. One little itty-bitty fly in the anointment is Barclays Partner Finance.... suddenly they don't want to keep to the agreement and want an updated SOA, a phone call to CCCS and they're going to send that out to them, hopefully that will put them back in the box!

Hope everyone's well and are watching those debts drop away.

    did you owe the money?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I am feeling very fustrated today. Our DMP is going well all have frozen interest or reduced to 3% except the Hellifax. They have increased my rate from approx 7% as on special deal to their standard rate and are also charging me £12x2 for late payment/over credit limit. Both myself and husband have CC with them and owe between us £25K!!
I have written today and asked the to stop interest etc and advised them that I will pass case to the Financial Ombudsman as they have made our situation much worse and feels like they are punishing us for facing up to our debts (Rate etc increased due to late payments as CCCS pay after pay date!!)
I know they most prob will play ball eventually but this is causing me to become depressed.
Sorry to rant on about the Hellifax but it helps to share my misery!!/
A quick update. The Halifax sent letter asking me to ring to discuss letter which I did. I managed to get them to refund all charges and extra interest although they have set our interest rate to 12%. I could not pursued them to lower it but they are sending us £25.00x2 as a goodwill gesture for all our stress!! I think I will pay this for a few months and then try and write again and ask for a further reduction as at 12% most of our payments will be interest. Does anyone have any other ideas?
  • thanks for your reply SAAC. I was having a good root through the forum late last night and it seems to be quite notorious that the likes of lloyds tsb and natwest dont stop interest and charges.

We have a lloan for £3300 with lloyds and 2 seperate loans with natwest 1 for £3500 and the other for £1450 we also have a loan with bank of scotland for £2500 these are our 3 main creditiors has anyone had experience with these while in a dmp?

    thanks again
