I have interest frozen with all three. These took about 3 months have been on DMP for 3 years this Sept and still all remains same, in fact MBNA keeps crediting me a £1 each month because they get my DM payment early.

    Good luck,
    MM2

    Bl**dy h*ll - they pay you money???
Oh well done! It's always so good to hear from someone whose DMP is going smoothly and as helpfully as yours. May it continue to the end.

Hiya, haven't posted for ages, but everything going fairly well so didn't want to tempt fate lol.

Thought i'd give an update incase any one who was thinking of doing a DMP was wondering about time scales/hassel etc

I sent off my £1 payments in Oct 2009 and haven't looked back since, I think the hardest thing is coming to terms with the fact that you don't really have much to fall back on anymore so you need to plan and save and not just spend willy nilly (which coincidentally is how I got into debt in the first place):D

Of my 9 creditors, I am pretty much sorted with all of them now. MBNA froze all interest straight away but about 5 months later decided that I wasn't offering them enough money so after lots of offers of 1 off settlements all the way down to 25% of the outstanding balance (which I would have loved to have taken them up on but just didn't have the money available). I have now had 2 of the 3 accounts referred to Experto Credite Debt Collectors, who happily took my Payplan details over the phone and I haven't heard from them since?! My Egg, Mint, Tesco and both Barclaycards have all accepted the lower payments and have all frozen interest for ever I hope!

My only mystery is my Barclays overdraft who are still accepting the payments but wrote to me in January to say that they couldn't accept my lower payments as it would not clear the debt in sufficient time and that if I didn't pay up in 14 days it would be passed to a recovery agency.......well it's July and I still haven't heard anything....not sure whether to get in touch or not??!!?? Has anyone else had any luck/problems with Barclays Bank?? My Barclaycards got accepted straight away so????

Anyway thats my up date and I am sooooooo glad that I have done this as I don't want to think about what life would be like now if I hadn't!!!
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D

  • Good news from me, Postie has just been. Mint have accepted DMP and will freeze interest from next month. So that's 7 onboard, 5 more to go.

Hope the good news vibes are contagious and everyone has a stroke of luck today

I've just phoned CCCS and they've confirmed they've set my DMP up ready for the first payment on 1st August.

Hurray!! At last I'm on the road to liberation! ( I know it's a 10 year plan, but that's a minor detail)

Can I join the support thread please?

Welcome Mrs A. The relief is immense, hope you feel that soon.

Wee bit more good news from me. First Direct just called, they are going to reduce CC to 6.5%. So in total thats 8 onboard (2 charging reduced interest). 4 to go. Looks like the letter writting on Monday appears to be paying off.

Mrs A - our first payment to CCCS also goes out on 1st August and our plan is scheduled to last 90 months.
We have 19 creditors and have only heard from MBNA (2 accounts) so far who have agreed to stop interest - its ironic how its MBNA who are the cause of us having to be on a DMP with their escalating rates of interest!!
So far I am feeling very positive about the whole DMP experience although I will still have to keep reminding OH re not spending any unnecessary money!

Good luck to us all on our small steps towards being debt free.

Good to hear that people's DMP are getting set; I don't think I can get mine in place for the 1st of August :( getting new bank a/c is taking longer that expected :( and boss going on holidays in a week, so no chance of getting wages paid in for a few weeks.

It's all rather depressing, I can see where I need to go but just can't reach it yet.

Looks like another month of tokens; roll on 1st September

PS can I have a number too :-)
