Well so far so good ,did my debt remedy at begining of month and now all letters have gone out from myself and CCCS ive heard back from MBNA ,BENEFICIAL ,saying they will accept DMP for 12 months
Capital one say they need a signature ,not had any reply from Yorkshire Bank but on my statement no interest and a note saying we will accept the agreed amount as a tempory payment ,not heard from Barclaycard but checked my online banking and it says minimum payment 00.00 does this meen its agreed ? Only Halifax to hear from now and they are biggest creditor with a CC, Loan ,and Overdraft .Ive not had any phone calls yet maybe its the calm before the storm as we owe an enormous amount (not ready to reveal yet, so ashamed ive let it get to this amount) but we are paying quite abit back a month and it will take about 6 years to pay it off ,if we carried on as we were we would have never paid it off and i would im sure had a break down as all i could think about was bills ,and how to pay them . I now feel more in control and thanking god i had that LBM . I no ive got a long way to go and but i now feel as though there is an end in sight were as a month ago i truly thought there was no way out of this . So anyone thinking have i to contact CCCS do it !!!! Sunny x

Hey Sunny, well done on facing up to things :j just dont be scared when the phone rings, there is nothing they can do to you :j

We have started out on our own self managed DMP and Santander are being a pain in the !!!, but each month i pay what i can afford and thats what they get told when they ring... and i send out the stop interest letters monthly :p
Finally i am in control of the situation and i am hoping that we will be debt free in about 3 yrs, as i am squirreling away a bit a month, so in year 3 we will make F&F offers and keep everything crossed

Budget is your new best friend, yesterday i went to Aldi with my shopping list and got everything on it for £53, got home and went on ASDA online entered all the items to see if it was cheaper and i had saved £16 :T was well impressed with that, so from now on its Aldi all the way :o

Have a good day everyone,

    Hi

I am just starting on a DMP with PP, one of my creditors are MBNA. I am awaiting a reply from them. For how long have they agreed to stop your interest for?

    Thanks
    Dazla

    Hi Dazla,

Fingers crossed you'll hear from MBNA quickly, I was actually surprised that they responded so quickly. They have agreed to freeze all interest for the entire DMP :T

One step at a time and we will get there :)

Let me know how you get on!

    Hi all

Just a update on my creditors, most have now accepted my DMP from 6 months ago but LLoyds being the main one who would not, so I kept on writing to them and finally I wrote a letter of complaint that they would not help my situation by charging me £34.00 interest and receiving a payment of £52.00 , a lovely lady from there customer services department came on the phone and talked my through my options and they have now refunded my interest charges and frozen them at last. so hopefully now I will be able to make a dent in my debt and reduce it . debt free date has also been reduced by 6 months by cccs after review which if also good news. good luck to all newbies its worth doing it .

DFD:- Long way to go but going down at last.:)
  • Why oh why oh why didn't I face up to things months ago!?!?

Any road up - have had that lightbulb moment again (oops), and here we go:

Letters to creditors - done and posted
Forms completed for CCCS - done
Forms copied, statements sorted and all information sent to CCCS - done

    Sigh of relief - done!

New bank account up and running - sorted
Child benefit changing bank details - done
Tax credits people bank details changing - done

Work change of bank details - to sort

I did sort reduced payments with some creditors at the end of last year, and all accepted - some more receptive than others, but as is the way of the world at the moment, things have changed for the worse quite significantly and have finally decided that we need professionals involved here - hence plunge to CCCS.

I feel so much better for dealing properly with this, and I feel that reading through support from people on here has definitely helped! DFD is in the land of far far away just now, but so be it. They can't have what we haven't got!

Onwards, upwards and no more panicking!

    I hope -

    PTB xx

Hi all been off for a while trying to save money.
I started my DMP in january with CCCS things going well. Just switched gas and electric supplier saving £25 a month and sold some old phones on line. My partner doesnt like me being in all this debt so that is why i decided to go down this route.
Since the new year i have reduced the amount of times i go out before i was using my credit cards to supplement the pub which we would visit 4 or 5 times a week. When we did go out i was unable to pay so she paid for all the drinks. However instead of us just having a couple of drinks she wants to stay out all night. Now i cant afford this so have left her in the pub with friends only to go bacl later to pick her up. Anyway on friday she announces she might be being amde redundant i flip as she had just started back to work after 3 days sick for a bad leg she hurt whilst on holiday. While she was off she still went down the pub which i told her not to as her boss lived in the same village. So i put 2 and 2 together and she has now walked out on me and wants half the house. she also doesnt contribute to any of the bills just the house insurane and shopping per month. if we sell the house i never will be able to buy again and there is not enough equity in the property to pay off all my debts just maybe half of them what can i do :(

    Hi Bones
Well it can't get much worse for you can it? :(
Really, really sorry to hear your relationship has broken up. Financial problems can put a terrible strain on your partnership.
I'm just having to pass through quickly now, and hopefuly someone will give you a full answer soon.
However, I wonder if you step back for just a minute and take a deep breath, then look again. I can only imagine how it must be to lose the house you have worked so hard for, but many, many more people in this country now are renting. (Don't have to worry and pay up when the fence blows down or the boiler blows up :)) AND with your share of the equity you could make reduced full and final offers and clear ALL of your debts.
You would then be making a new start with a clean slate, a fresh beginning with no debt.
And because I'm old enough to have lived life, it's very true that you never know what the future holds for you.
It's bleak and dark for now, but you'll work your way through this.
    Hugs from me,

    'Twitty'
  • Hugs to you Bones. Twitty sums it up beautifully. I'd tell her whistle re the house!!!!! Let us know how you get on.

I've just been informed Egg have sold my debt to Barclaycard. Gutted as Egg reduced me to 0% eventually but BC are charging interest on my other account. Trying to think positive.... ho hum.

Hope you are all making it through the week. x
