Hey everyone. I thought I'd check in as it's been a while. Our DMP is ticking along nicely, we've had a periodic review and our payment went up £4, which is fine. Most of our creditors are playing nicely and staying in their boxes. Two notable exceptions:
Bank of Scotland Preference Acc - % on again, and off again and on again. Same with default charges. They said they'd stop doing this if my payment to them went up by £1.67 pm. Tempted to arrange this seperately just to shut them up and stop the debt increasing but they're just so incompetent I don't know if it would work or is based in reality. They recently claimed (by phone) that they'd return all the charges to me if I paid the whole amount off within three months (it's £1200, so no chance of that).
Barclays Partner Finance - oh how I love thee! They kept putting default late payment charges on our account at the start of the DMP and would ring up incessesantly telling us that our DMP payment hadn't arrived. The reason for all this was because they would not shift the old payment date and the DMP payment usually arrives from CCCS with them two days later than the old payment. They said they'd change the payment date - first they said this would cost £25, then the next time they said £50. They agreed to stop the default charges though. We refused to pay and they said that they'd have to ring us every month - I said that's fine, looking forward to it matey. So, after ringing us for about 48 hours for each of the last three months they have finally become bored and changed the payment date, for free. Vive la common sense eh?
So, top tip, if you get the same with Barclays PF, just tell them you can't wait to speak to them every month - they'll get bored before you do!
Good luck everyone x

Do not offer to pay the additional £1.67 I had this with Citi Finance I contacted CCCS who advised me that they do this and when you pay the additional amount they hassle you again and again and then the DMP collapses as you have to be fair to all creditors. You are also showing that you have additional income to spend on your debt. So my advice would be offer what you can afford and stick to that amount no more no less.
Hope I have been of use to you.

As i mentioned earlier in this thread i have split up with my partner who didnt like my debts but other reasons contributed to the split. When i initially took out my DMP with CCCS in january i had a debt of 25,500. My partner didn not want me to go down the route of a IVA because she didnt want her excellent credit rating spoilt by me taking out a IVA. Now we have split i am wondering whether that route may now be open to me to get rid of my debt once and for all in 5 years. Because interest was slow to stop with my 4 creditors one BTW still charges my debt has gone up to £25600 approx.
DFD 2019.
Is a IVA more advantagious and what are the extra pit falls i own my house (mortgaged)
Any advise and help would be much appreciated guys and gals
Bones xx
It all depends on your personal situation. I wouldn't because of my mortgaged flat, and if I came to sell any profit would be swallowed up, but hey, look into it. Take a look at the IVA guide on here (MSE) or on the nationaldebtline website.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi all, I haven't posted for a while. Have had a few things in RL to deal with.
I received a letter from CCCS yesterday formally notifying me that the 6 month temporary token arrangement that I had with them is now coming to an end. I originally went into tail spin, but now feel a lot more able to manage my own dmp.
In order to do this, do I just need to send sample letters and continue with my reduced pro rata payments, which is what I did prior to getting cccs involved?
On a positive note, I am pushing forward with several ppi claims, I got my credit report a few days a go and there are a gazillion lenders that I had forgotten about from years back, all balances cleared, but ppi would definately have been paid to all of them as that was the old naive me at work then. If I only get a few hundred back it will make a small dent in my debts.
Heres to hoping anyway.
One thing I have noticed, I have 2 overdrafts that are included in my current dmp, but dont figure on my credit file. Is this normal?

Hi guys.
Hope everyone is doing well!
I have a question - I filled in debt remedy with CCCS a couple of weeks ago, and the pack is waiting to be sent off along with most of my documentation. I was just waiting for my payslip, which came today. The problem is that I had budgeted on Debt Remedy for one amount, and the amount that I'm actually going to receive is almost £100 higher!
You might think "well what is she complaining about!?" but the higher amount is due to me not hitting the tax threshold yet, because I've been out of work for a year. Also, my Student Loan payments aren't coming out yet. Both of these will rectify themselves in the next few months, so by the end of this year I'll be on the amount that I pre-empted. I know that if I give this payslip to CCCS they will (quite rightly) ask me to up my payments by £89 a month, but I'm worried that taking them down again when the tax situation changes will anger my creditors. I don't know what to do - any advice would be really appreciated.0 -

Speak to CCCS? I'd imagine they may average out the payments, if you can work out how much you're gonna get every month?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Yeah, I'm gonna give them a ring but I'm worried they won't believe me: after all, I don't have any proof that I'm eventually going to be taxed at a higher rate.0 -

Hope everyone has a good long weekend! Capital one have been phoning me at least 3 times a day every day (I've kept the phone unplugged, but am doing 1471) for the last 2 weeks or so. Surely they'll get bored soon? My mum is upset with me as she thinks I'm blocking her phone calls! I had asked all creditors to remove my phone contacts before I went on the DMP, but Capital One lied to me and didn't remove the numbers. I actually hate them.
Have a great weekend!

Just checked my online CCCS statement and was shocked at how much my creditors received this month. I had made a reduced payment for the first time due to unforeseen circumstances. Some of my creditors only received £1.60 normally get £5.00 I am expecting them to kick off. I have wrote to all of them and explained my situation so I guess I can just wait and see.
I bet they contact me at the weekend and ruin the bank holiday they always seem to do this.
Of course I had to give the mechanic a cheque, which when it clears will literally leave us nothing before we even start the month. I keep thinking that I should ask my parents to help, but really that sort of money is far too much. Has anyone else had to make a seriously reduced payment, and how where the creditors?:( Thanks,
