  • Ah its a red letter day - I have received my first default notice. Do I need to tell CCCS as or does it not really change anything as I am already on my DMP?

Hope everyone has survived the Monday blues ;)

No difference to CCCS. Compared to APs defaults rock!!!!!

    Short week this week thankfully

Hello, all. Back after a brief wobble off the wagon. How are you all? And why are defaults better?!

Because they drop off your credit record 6 years after the date you receive them (so sooner is better than later in that case), unlike the other arrangements under discussion lately.
Hope your wobble has wibbled off now :)

    Hi Everyone

Today I contacted CCCS to tell them that I needed to reduce next months payment as I have had some unforeseen expenditure. I worried all day about contacting them but the lady at CCCS was great. She informed me that these things happen she even asked me if I needed to reduce it any further but I said no.

I asked her about the creditors and how it would be viewed and she said they would probably understand but I may get some letters regarding missed payment. She suggested I write to each creditor and inform them that they will be getting a reduced payment in May and then back to normal in June and explain the circumstances. I am going to do this because Professor Pat Pending always taught me to keep in contact with my creditors and things run smoother and this is very true.

I also mentioned that things were getting tight and she informed me that they have been receiving a large volume of calls asking for a reduction so I am going to go down this route in June and go for a review. CCCS are great and like this forum a tower of strength.

I have to admit once I came off the phone I felt great, empowered but overall relieved that the bills could be paid. All be it for a short period until the creditors find out. But you know what I can only give what I have nothing more nothing less.

    Best wishes to all.

What a gobby lot you are :)
Only been gone a couple of days but lots of chat going on!
Thanks to HH for explaining the financial 'shortcut speak'
And apologies to newbies. I know it seems so bewildering to see abbreviations such as 'F+F' 'DFD' etc. You speaka in strange tongues?:o
When you've been here a while (:() you get a grasp on all of things but I think we sometimes forget how strange and alien it all is at the start.
So sorry, if we don't always make ourselves clear - but look and learn; soon you'll be rattling all this off too :D(and be stronger and more self assured with your money situation)

Well done Mikon - you've been and gone and done it! :T
You are entitled to feel empowered; it's your life and you have a right to live it in a decent manner, whatever your circumstances.
More and more of us are needing to reduce our payments. Every single bloomin' thing has gone up except the income :(
I'm just hanging on by the skin of my teeth at the moment but within the next month or two will need to reduce payments.
Dreading upsetting a smooth DMP but as you say it's going to happen a lot more in the future.
Please let us know how you get on. You have got a grip again on your finances (again!)in these uncertain times. Move forward at peace with yourself.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I have to admit at the beginning of my DMP I was worried about the creditors, the threat of CCJ and DCAs. Then I overcome that and the things ran pretty smooth. Then these last few months we have been getting paid and worrying if it would last till the end of the month. I was getting paranoid about every pound we spent sometimes it would cause arguments. Then we had an unexpected bill and that was the straw that broke the camels back. That was when I decided things had to change and it did today and I feel better for it. June will see me review my payments so that I or rather we can live a normal life if there is such a thing as normal but you all know what I mean.

To all the newbies good luck and remember your living standards and health need to be maintained.
