    Hi HH
Quick reply as my stomach thinks my throat has been cut! (And apologies not been around for a few days - will catch up soon I hope :o)
I'm fairly certain you can only be defaulted once per debt/account.
Any accounts marked 'in arrears' mean you although you are on a DMP and paying up front every month, you are not fulfilling your original contractual obligations (but they will take what you can give)
Sorry not an expert but I think the rest is just waffle. Defaults count 6 years from start date.
I'm sure once you're out of the woods you'll not have a problem with house/car. Many are going deeper into the mire - we're digging out :)

    'Twitty'

Hope you got suitably fed and watered Twitty.:)

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Been doing some digging. Turns out arrears and arrangements to pay are worse than defaults. Defaults are only issued once per account. The others can stay on your record to the end of the the DMP then stay on for 6 years after that!!!! :(

    Depressing :(

Would like to think I can manage without credit but who knows what life has in store for us in the future.

I so wish I had the guts to go down UE to help get the ones that are still charging me interest and late fees on board. Honestly, we try to do the responsible thing and we get treated worse than anyone that just walks away from the debt. I'm not dissing anyone on UE, these are personal choices.

Ah well, my throat cut too tonight, may feel better after some economy grub!

    Have a nice evening folks.

    Afternoon everyone.

    Today is a good day.

I don't think I realised how much of a roller coaster this would be.

Me and OH got a letter from Lloyds saying our bank account(huge overdraft) is being passed to the consumer debt recovery team and no charges etc will be added just now, so i guess it's just wait and see what they say.

Me and OH both stopped smoking today :j.

I didn't tell CCCS that we smoked as there wasn't enough money in our budget for it and I knew we both had to stop for lots of reasons.

I'm using patches, haven't had a cig for 12hrs. Thought I would be a wreck but I'm feeling really positive. Also joined my local stop smoking group.

Anyway rambling over, hope it's a good day for you all too

    Stelly xx

    Hi
Well done on giving up the 'poison weed'
I used to smoke years ago :o and giving up was the best thing I ever did.
I had tried for years without success until a medic told me it was easy if you changed your mind set. Not 'I haven't had a cigarette for 5 hours' but 'Well done me-I've been a non-smoker for 5 hours' :)
Change your routine, go to different places, etc.etc.
Think this applies to all of us living on a harsh budget at the moment. On a DMP you need to change your way of thinking/living. But it's becoming an increasing challenge.
Keep strong and don't weaken when the cravings hit (it's only a moment, then they will pass) And just imagine lighting up - but a precious rolled-up £5

    Thanks HH for this. That's a b*gg*r :(
Wasn't aware of this-will do some digging of my own tomorrow. I too contemplated the UE route but chickened out.
I found it a bit worrying today that the ML Money-Saver weekly mail pointed out that utility companies are/might soon be credit sharing. No worries if you've kept up to date with your gas/electric etc but surely it will work both ways? If you apply for a better plan will you be refused because of your DMP (never been a problem in the past)
Enjoy your bread and water supper :D
And let's all stick together because there is strength in numbers-the winning EuroMillions one :rotfl:

morning all, I hope everyone is bearing up under the current climate?
I have just rung payroll to check whether my manager has authorised my essential car users allowance for the last 5 months?!!! No points for guessing the answer to that. He vowed last month that he had done it, I am banking on that money to try and eke out my meagre budget. I currently spend more on petrol for my job than my mileage allowance pays (if indeed I ever received it) and is making me question the logic in me working anyway! I am going to refuse to do any more visits and claim financial hardship.
Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse. Not sure if I am catastrophising, but I have no idea how I am going to get through the month. 90% of that money was allocated to repay a family member. Egg firmly on my chin.

    Have a great day

What can we say but keep going?
This must surely be your lowest point. It HAS to get better for you.
Nag, nag, nag, whittle and wear your manager down. This is your money and you are entitled to it - NOW!
Can your family member hold off for another month or so?
You sound so down. I wish I could help in more positive ways. Have you discussed all your options with CCCS? ( I know you said they wouldn't support your DMP) Tried ringing PayPlan. Citizens Advice etc?
Keep fighting - we are all behind you.

Thanks for your kind words and support Twitty, I just seem to be lurching from bad to worse. I am feeling down, but am trying to put a brave face on it. I am a little emotional due to lots of other factors, not least being alcohol free (determined not to drink). Not sure how much fight I have left in me, I seem to be running on empty somewhat.
I will explain to my family member the full circs, hopefully he will understand. I rang CAG this morning, but the centre was closed so I left a message (another sign of the times - services attempting to run with too few staff)

ah well, back to work tomorrow, then the battle really will start.
On a brighter note, I am due a tax rebate as i have overpaid for the last 5 months. not sure when that will materialise though.
enjoy the rest of your evening

    I'm being a dunce here. What's UE?

You are doing the responsible thing, but at the beginning they treat you the same as the non-payers (not necessarily their fault. They just know that you owe them money!). And maybe because you do want to repay, they see you as being a possible easy target...

    Hi Ian

It's unenforceable. I'm a year in now and have paid back £16812.00! I've done loads of research, as I pay regularily etc etc what's stopped has stopped, it will either last out status quo or they will start charging again. Ah well will just have to wait and see. Might have to have a chocolate biscuit before bed!

Don't let the bed bugs bite folks.

Winning - you bet. Count me in. That one will keep me going for a while in the gym :)

UE's certainly not for the faint hearted. Personal choice and all that. Not allowed to post a link to the other site but drop me a PM if you want to check it out Twitty. A few of the Paddler DMPers are over there giving it some welly!

    Hi Everyone,

thanks for replying to my query regarding arrangement dates. I just want to say its really great to know there is somewhere we can come and talk to others without being judged (I know i shouldnt have gotten myself in this situation, but no one here tells me that!!) You were all really positive about my total budget wedding coming in June, and you have actually changed the way I think about things.

I used to avoid the phone like the plague, and was terrified of speaking to creditors. Now I call them when I need to, and I am proud of not having my head in the sand anymore. I used to be down about the fact that I have paid over £5K to CCCS over the past year, and a balance that started as £40K has only reduced by £3.5k due to some creditors still charging interest - however, now I look at it like - wow - I have paid like 7% of my debts (didn't work that out properly, maths bods ;))

I know my DFD is WAY in the future, but I am dealing with it, and there will be an end in sight one day. Iam glad to be doing it alongside others that understand, and hope to be able to help others like you guys do :T

    Thanks (epic message finished now!)

    Sam xx
