Paying £1 per month to each creditor, all interest frozen. This may change when cccs stop administering dmp. Head hurts!
Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task

just got back from the doctors, need blood tests and an ECG. My blood pressure remains high. Looks like I may need to go on tablets to lower it. It has certainly given me a wake up call.

Thanks for support and though not in the best position myself would like to add my support to anybody who needs it.

Morning everyone - DM, I am thinking of you an sending positive thoughts! I've opened my safe bank account, and am in the process of swapping over the vital dd's like council tax etc. As mentioned before, my partner has mental health issues, so I can't involve him in this. I've started doing the letter to send out to the preditors, and obviously I need to make sure they don't come the house, as then the game would be up and all hell would break loose with the partner. Debtline said I should say something in the "freeze" letter that I send - do you think the following is overkill and I should leave out the bit about the home visit? It's just the thought of the possibility makes me feel physically sick

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Re:- Account/Reference Number 1234

I am writing to inform you that I am seeking advice and assistance regarding my current financial difficulties.
To this end, I would appreciate if you could hold any action on the above account for a period of at least 28 days.
Also, during this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.

I request that if you need to contact me, you contact me in writing only.

With reference to any possible Home Visit that may be considered, I would advise you that OFT rules and regulations clearly state that you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I can advise you now that I have no wish to make such an appointment either now or at any time in the future. Further, there is an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc. (Armstrong v. Sheppard and Short Ltd [1959] 2 Q.B. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore, please take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives, to visit me at my property. If you send "doorstep collectors" to my home you will be reported for harassment and be liable for damages for a tort of trespass. You would also be liable for conspiring in a tort of trespass by acting in defiance of my instructions and sending someone to visit me nevertheless. Should it prove necessary, I will obtain an injunction.

I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully

I have shamelessly used text found on this forum, so thank you Mikon and others!

Please could you let me know what you think anyone? Any input is gratefully received!

  • Hi

Can anyone help with credit report questions please?

I'm just coming upto a one year anniversary of being on a DMP and have checked my credit file with Equifax. I have 3 defaults registered in July 2010 (these are with companies who accepted DMP and gave me 0% interest. There is no history provided after July. Is this usual?

I think I read somewhere that you can only be defaulted once per account, is that correct or could they slap another on me at the end of my DMP?

Five accounts are marked "up to date."

Two accounts even though state am on a DMP (have never missed a payment) have marked "in arrears". Another two accounts are marked "arrangement to pay". I noticed a statement at the bottom of the page that states "The information will stay on your Credit Report for 6 years from the date the account was ended." Does this mean that even if the defaults were to 'fall off' in 2016 these "arrears" and "AP" will be on my account until 2020?

I would like to get a car and move house post DMP so would be keen to know. Helps to keep me going!

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi HH
Quick reply as my stomach thinks my throat has been cut! (And apologies not been around for a few days - will catch up soon I hope :o)
I'm fairly certain you can only be defaulted once per debt/account.
Any accounts marked 'in arrears' mean you although you are on a DMP and paying up front every month, you are not fulfilling your original contractual obligations (but they will take what you can give)
Sorry not an expert but I think the rest is just waffle. Defaults count 6 years from start date.
I'm sure once you're out of the woods you'll not have a problem with house/car. Many are going deeper into the mire - we're digging out :)

    Hi everyone

Need your advice. I am about to revise my DMP payments downwards unfortunately by a substantial amount as I am struggling to make ends meet. I have reduced some outgoings but have increased others which are the ones that have increased due to increase in living costs. Would you please look at it and tell me what you think. The reduction will be about £100 per month and I fear my creditors will not be happy but I am struggling to get to the end of month.

Any help or advice both on the increased spend or how the creditors will react is appreciated. This reduction will allow me to live.

Mikon, how much is your DMP payment currently, if you don't mind me asking?
