morning all, I hope everyone is bearing up under the current climate?
I have just rung payroll to check whether my manager has authorised my essential car users allowance for the last 5 months?!!! No points for guessing the answer to that. He vowed last month that he had done it, I am banking on that money to try and eke out my meagre budget. I currently spend more on petrol for my job than my mileage allowance pays (if indeed I ever received it) and is making me question the logic in me working anyway! I am going to refuse to do any more visits and claim financial hardship.
Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse. Not sure if I am catastrophising, but I have no idea how I am going to get through the month. 90% of that money was allocated to repay a family member. Egg firmly on my chin.
Have a great day

Hi everyone
Need your advice. I am about to revise my DMP payments downwards unfortunately by a substantial amount as I am struggling to make ends meet. I have reduced some outgoings but have increased others which are the ones that have increased due to increase in living costs. Would you please look at it and tell me what you think. The reduction will be about £100 per month and I fear my creditors will not be happy but I am struggling to get to the end of month.

Any help or advice both on the increased spend or how the creditors will react is appreciated. This reduction will allow me to live.
Thank You
Good luck with it all Mikon. At my 6 months review I reduced my DMP payment by 4%. It kicked off some temporary computer madness but that soon settled down. I'm sure they will be getting many people asking for reductions. We don't have much elastic in DMP budgets to accomodate for these gruelling times.
On the whole my DMP doing well but still getting charged interest by 5 preditors. It's crazy that if we didn't pay anything we'd end up paying less!!!!!
Let us know how you get on, will be routing for you.

Afternoon everyone.
Today is a good day.
I don't think I realised how much of a roller coaster this would be.
Me and OH got a letter from Lloyds saying our bank account(huge overdraft) is being passed to the consumer debt recovery team and no charges etc will be added just now, so i guess it's just wait and see what they say.
Me and OH both stopped smoking today :j.
I didn't tell CCCS that we smoked as there wasn't enough money in our budget for it and I knew we both had to stop for lots of reasons.
I'm using patches, haven't had a cig for 12hrs. Thought I would be a wreck but I'm feeling really positive. Also joined my local stop smoking group.
Anyway rambling over, hope it's a good day for you all too

Good Afternoon,
I have been on a DMP since May 2010, and my next review with CCCS is due in August. I am coming up to a year on my DMP, and some creditors agreed to the payments for 12 months. My question is - do the creditors write to me to tell me the arrangement is about to expire and I then ring CCCS to send out up to date paperwork or do they get in touch with CCCS directly?
Do I just continue as I am, and am I worrying about nothing?
Thanks

Hi Mikon
Thanks for 'baring your soul' and posting your budget revisions. Firstly I would say that I truly believe many of us will shortly be following you and reducing payments. Even very basic living is becoming untenable with the horrific increases in prices and freeze/decrease in incomes. (Just heard I'm losing my £24 a month working tax credit. This equals food x one week)
Hope you know I would never criticise but may I offer some comment on your budget? (sure you have already turned it inside out)
1) Have you got the very best package for phone/internet etc? Can you reduce your mobile use (go on PAYG package maybe?)
2) Could you live without satellite?
3) Can you reduce misc. services or leisure further?
4) I find the greatest savings can be made on the food budget - any possibility of squeezing it a bit further?
Petrol and food etc are gobbling up the budget and making a mockery of it all aren't they? Sure the creditors will blow hot air at your reduction initially but it comes down to the same old story doesn't it? Any repayment is better than none for them. Hope it goes well for you; let us know how it pans out for you.

Hi sam and welcome to the thread
Don't worry about doing anything at the moment, your creditors will write to you if they want to change anything. If they do then contact CCCS and let them know, otherwise leave it.

We worry because we care. I agree with Suze. No news is good news with these things I find. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Stelly, sounds like you have indeed had a good day
Lol up until a couple of years ago I never would've thought I'd see the day when I'd be congratulating someone on being passed to debt collectors :rotfl:And it's great you're managing without the ciggies and still feeling positive - I tried giving up loads of times without success yet when the time was truly right for me I had no problems and have never felt the need to go back to it since.
I've also had some good news. I have been offered some extra work which means I will be able to double my DMP payments. Unfortunately my car needs lots of tlc before its mot so I'm going to have to use the extra money to pay for that next month, but after that I'll up my DMP payments and hopefully get paid off a few months early
Hope you are all well

Umm it depends. Most won't get in touch and will wait for your review. Others will send you a letter saying the agreement's coming to an end.
When I do receive the letters, I ring the creditor up (My decision, not a recommended choice by some), explain I've received the letter. Sometimes they'll say it's an automated letter and not to worry. Other times I've said I was due a review in 'however long' and they were happy to wait.
The only issue I've had is with my NR loan, which is on an arrangement to pay per 12 months. I received a letter from them saying the 12month agreement was coming to an end, and I ignored it. It was only when I received a letter stating that as they hadn't heard from me, my payments were to revert to the original payment plan, that I hurriedly phoned them to explain the situation, and they were happy to reset the plan.
Whatever you decide to do, if you receive a letter about the 12 month arrangement, don't ignore it! Either write or phone the creditor, or speak to CCCS.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
