Hi Guys
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem when they were on a DMP or is it just me. I seem to find that after everything is paid I have not a lot to live on for the week. Does this get better as your debts go down or worse I know this is a silly question but all I seem to do is worry were the next pound or two pound is. Thanks for listening guys .

I started out the same as you created a budget that was manageable and paid the remaining to my creditors. I have over the past 3 months started to struggle and am finding that I am running out of money around the 23/24 of each month. This has been compounded by the increase in fuel, food and heating costs. I am going to speak with CCCS next month to reduce my monthly payment as it appears that some people live comfortably on a DMP whilst others struggle of which we are the strugglers. As someone has pointed out whilst on a DMP you should have enough to live on and we don't!
Will things get better well that is the unknown question some of your creditors freeze the interest whilst others like Barclaycard have reinstated interest because I have paid or pay more than 1.5% of something what I don't know. But you know what throughout the process your address your debts and that has to be good and no one said it would be easy, but when your debt free you will look back and be glad you addressed your problem.
Finally your question is not silly its a valid point. No questions on this forum are silly.
I hope I have answered your question.

Can I add to HHs' message, we both started down this road around the same time, and it's really good to hear all is well.
January is such a hard month for everyone, especially those starting on the DMP journey (AARGH!! The dreaded "J" word, I'm sure somebody banned that!).
Well Done and Good Luck to all our Newbies! You've made that vital first step, and everyone here is supporting you all the way. Remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question (only stupid people, in my case) and Lord knows, I had plenty of those at the start.
Finally, can I mention that I have enough Default Notices to paper my hall stairs and landing?. I got in to a real state about them at the start, but they seem to be an issue that goes with the territory, I've decided that if there's something I can't change, then I'm not going to worry about it.

Hi everyone
i'm pretty new to this site and am working with the cccs towards setting me up a DMP.
I am sending the creditors letters out on monday, and i just wondered did you send them all out at once or wait (esp with debts with current account) until you had moved all your pay/child benefits etc to the new account? ALso do i need to send a token payment with each letter, and if so how much is a good amount, so they dont think i am taking the mick (i.e by sending a pound or two?) and lastly(sorry for all q's) did you send letter out recorded, obviously trying to keep to a new stirct budget lol but i'm worried they may say they never received the letter?!
Sorry for all the q's but the cccs didn't really say and i forgot to askregarding the above...and ref paying off creditors seperately with extra money, the cccs told me not to do this but to send the extra to them, they would then divide it equally and send it on for me (I asked specifically about this so am sure this is right)

I didnt send the one to my old bank the one with the overdfaft until i knew my wages were going in to the new one even rang payroll to check (unfortunately there was a delay with the child benefit so thats gone in the overdraft account!). I didnt send the creditor letters recorded but when i sent the stuff back to cccs i did thought that was more important
Dont know if this was right but others will be along soon with their experiences and advice

I sent my letters after ensuring that all my accounts had been closed and I had set a new one up. I did some research to find out which bank was not connected to any of my creditors. I think I sent my token payments separately as and when the payments would have normally been paid. I sent token payments of £1 postal orders from the Post Office.
I enclosed a letter stating that I was on a DMP with CCCS and that they would be acting on my behalf to deal with any enquiries. I also ensured they had my DMP ref no whenever possible and informed them see my previous post that all communication had to be done in writing as telephone contact was not appropriate. DO NOT SIGN THE LETTERS you can digitally sign the letters. I sent my letters recorded delivery.
CCCS will not want you to send lump sums to creditors. They will do it for you and pro rata it across the creditors so they are equally accounted for.
I hope I have answered your questions and put your mind at ease. The start of a DMP is daunting and your mind sometimes runs away with you. But remember you cannot give them what you have not got. Alot of creditors will give you hassle initial and send letters which have they word MAY in remember these are empty threats and after 2 or 3 months they go remarkably quiet I am speaking from experience and although I sometimes have a bad day the good thing is that I am working towards paying my debts off all of my creditors stop interest within the first 2 months I have now paid 7% of my debt back and I am only into my 8th month. Remember to stay strong and if creditors contact you tell them to deal with CCCS as they are your appointed 3rd party and are authorised to deal with your financial affairs.

Hello and welcome!
It's hard to answer your questions with complete experience, because we started our new Bank a/c first. However, I'm sure that you have to be aware of 'setting off' where a company can empty your a/c if they think they won't get their money. If I were you, I would get a new a/c set up just in case. TBH, I started our DMP a month too early. I wish now that I had been braver, seeing out the calls, etc, just to give us a good starting point. Don't be afraid to send a £5 token payment, it lets the company know that you are still in touch, and paying them a little at least.
I got a free proof of posting receipt from the Post Office for the few token payments I made, and really no one failed to receive them.

I find it varies from month to month. I really struggled in January (after the dreaded Christmas) even using a M and S gift card to buy food and am also struggling this month. Next month is car tax, MOT etc so will probably be Spring before it feels any easier. Some months I find it okay but I still find it difficult to put money away for an emergency fund (hence the problem at Christmas). I'm really going to try and do this this year. I've become much better at budgeting for food and another thing that has helped me is having an excel spreadsheet where I put down all my direct debits and everything I spend. It's amazing where the money can go.
Good luck and if things get really difficult then phone up CCCS or Payplan and ask them to review your budget.DeeBee0 -
well I spoke to barclayc@rd at 8.50 this evening - they called a little late I feel. Told them I'm starting a DMP due to a change in circumstances and gave them my CCCS ref and told them I'd sent the letter giving them permission to talk to CCCS. The woman didn't seem to care - just made a note on my account and then hung up on me! Suspect the payd@y loans people won't be as easy to deal with :eek:0

dont now if this should be on this thread or not, but obviously people on here have been on their DMPs for a certain period of time, some longer than others. I have read about ccj's, charging orders etc and they worry me. I was wondering if anyone had been affected by these and obviously the consequences that they have brought.0

Good Morning...had a slight fright last night...got a call from an international number about 8pm (used to get these all the time before DMP for creditors who had overseas customer offices)...I looked at the phone, answered it and it was a woman looking for her daughter...the wrong number..phew..for a few seconds all those feelings came flooding back..0
