Hello to all of you new to this DMP stuff
Just passing through myself at the moment so a brief message to try and help.
1) Get yourself a basic bank acount unconnected to your previous accounts/creditors
2) Expect a rough ride at the start. Your balances will probably rise at the beginning.
3) Put thoughts of threats of court/bailiffs etc to the back of your mind. Yes they can happen, but show your commitment and they will be unlikely.
4) Your're in debt but no shame needed. Just work towards living a better life in the future.
5) Stick with the lovely people here - they will always try to help and advise.
To the 'Oldies' I'm going again now - need time to sort my head out, but thanks again for your support :heart2:

Hi,
We have started a DMP and sent all the letters to our creditors. The DMP is not set up yet but one of the creditors has called about the letter we sent and asked us to call them back. Do we have to call back or wait until the DMP is set up and let CCCS call them?
Thanks in advance for any help0 -

Hi antk4
My personal recommendation for what its worth is to communicate with your creditors in writing. If you start phoning them I believe this sends a message to them that you will communicate via the phone and this could lead to numerous telephone calls further down the line. I always stated in the early days wrote to my creditors and I also asked them not to ring and to remove my telephone number from my accounts. Also once the DMP is set all your creditors should deal with CCCS as they will be acting on your behalf and your creditors will have received a letter of authorisation from you to that effect.
I also think that keeping a communication channel open with your creditors helps albeit in writing but it shows your creditors that you are acknowledging their request to contat them and are not ignoring them.
In short write do not phone.
Hope I have helped.Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

I am waiting for a letter from the co-op bank re: my new account details so after all the last of the DD's go out of my hubby's account this week i can clear the rest of the money out and put it in there. I haven't told the bank that we have our wages go into yet...that letter is still sat here. BUT i stupidly posted the letter to the credit card company (which is from the same bank) so i am really worried that they are going to clear our current account nowso much for me thinking i was being clever! And if they do i won't have any money to live on as CTC, CHB & wages go in there!
Go withdraw it all in the morning! DDs will bounce then you can pay them with postal orders. Good luck

Thanks for replying everyone
I cant go to the bank today as i forgot i have a gas safety inspection in the house
grr! BUT I am going first thing tomorrow and withdrawing everything left in there (most DD's are due today and tomorrow also so not many will bounce)! We are also with the Santander so i am hoping that my luck will be as good as yours Maganan! AND i sent the creditors letters recorded but second class so I am hoping they wont arrive now until tomorrow (sent yesterday)
The Barclays are the only creditors that have been hounding me! But i answered the call yesterday and actually they were very nice, took my CCCS ref and said they would put the account on hold for 30 days and hopefully hear something from the CCCS in the meantime (was in complete shock at this lol) And i know that hubby's ones will be on the phone later too as his were due todaybut he is not here to talk to as he is working abroad so i will just have to tell them that we're working with the CCCS?!

There are two schools of thought when it comes to contact with creditors...
Those that phone, and those that write only.
I've done all my contact by telephone, and I seriously believe that early on, this method works as it shows you're not shirking your responsibility, and avoiding the debt.
Both methods work I think, just that the phone method (if you're strong enough) seems to be more immediate in stopping the phonecalls in the first place.
I hardly receive any phonecalls now.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

I have been on a DMP with CCCS which I have been managing (just) since April 2010. Anyway, my boiler broke in December and we had no water or heating for over a week, I had to have the whole thing replaced or have no water or heating at all for my famikly which in the middle of the snow and freezing temperatures we had was unbearable, especially for my children. I had nobody to borrow money from and no emergency fund whatsoever, so ( *gets ready for criticism here* ) I borrowed from Wonga. I borrowed £500 to get the boiler fixed and thought I would be okay next month but I wasnt, I had to roll it over again in January and I am supposed to be paying it back on the 13th february but I will not have enough money to do this or I wont be able to pay the mortgatge (I am already 2 months in arrears with the mortgage) :_(
I dont know what to do, can I roll it over a third time? ( I know this wil incur more interest but I am desparate) or can I add it to my DMP? I know this is against the rules of a DMP (ie taking on more credit) but this was a desparate situation and I had no other option, will CCCS stop the DMP if I tell them I got a payday loan? IM not here to be judged, I know i was stupid but I didnt know what else to do. I am scared to ring CCCS in case they cancel my DMP but |I am also not prepared to pay WOnga instead of the mortgage as I could potentially lose my home here. I have cancelled the debit card (told the bank I lost it) and I have a new debit card as I understand this is how WOnga take their money, with the card and not the account details (?).
Will Wonga agree to a payment plan if I contact them to explain? I simply cannot pay this at all, when I have paid the mortgage I have £68 for the whole month to live on, and thats for food, transport to school for the kids and everything. I have no friends or family at all who can help me.
SHould I contact CCCS or should I contact Wonga BEFORE the payment is due to see if they will agree to let me pay a certain amount per month to clear the debt?
:mad:I know this is foolish but ..............any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou I am so scared....0 -
LBT...wonder if it would be possible for you to not pay your DMP this month and explain that you've had to do this repair..then that way you could pay back Wonga? Good luck0
