Do you still have an overdraft with the account? If so then that'll need to be added to the DMP.

In theory they will just take money from the account regardless, whether there's any money in there or not.

the overdraft is included in the DMP as is the loan.

I am really upset, mostly at my own stupidity. I sent off the DMP paperwork to the CCCS over the weekend. My Wonga loan defaulted on Friday and I got paid on Monday and they have taken most of my wages out over the weekend, even though the money only hit my account today. Natwest gave me a rather flimsy reason as to why, even though I can't go to a cashpoint and withdraw my money, but the basic upshot is, I now can't pay my bills this month. I was supposed to pay my council tax today of £279 (which includes arrears) and my childminder £778. My mortgage payment is also due by 10th. But apart from that, it is my dad's birthday and my mum is abroad and I said I would send her some money and now I can't. I know that none of this is the end of the world and I can talk to people and get some extensions, but I really thought that this month might be a bit different. That this month, I would start turning a corner. I don't even know how they debited the money as the card they have on file is an old one that isn't supposed to work anymore.

I am really angry with myself. And stony, stony broke. I'm going to ring the CCCS in the morning and hope that they have some advice.

Oh Sarah, I don't have any practical advice but I just wanted to send you a virtual hug :kisses3: that sounds so awful.

We are in a similar position to yourself, about to start on a DMP but the bank doesn't know we're in difficulty yet. We've got paid today, and at 9:30 we're off to the bank to withdraw our wages and pay it straight into our new account.

I hope you get it sorted.

    Morning all
Already said a quick hello in December but I am now taking my first steps on our DMP road
We have £52k of debts and will be paying these back for 4 years and 3 months if all creditors stop interest First payment of just over £1000 will be going out tomorrow so its a good feeling all phone calls have stopped plenty of default letters but i know thatthese are just part of the process
Am sure i will be back on soon to ask some more questions
  • ha ha ok I'm weirded out - I haven't had a single phone call from creditors today - they've been calling non stop since thursday, even got calls yesterday afternoon! But today nothing - I assume they got my letters re my DMP, but I didn't expect them to stop calling, especially the payday loans people.

I love the fact that the lack of calls is freaking me out typical :D
  • Good luck to everyone starting out on a DMP...I am also. I sent out my creditors letters this morning (only one with a token payment as that is overdue) and i have posted off all the statements etc to CCCS...so i suppose it's just a waiting game now.

I am waiting for a letter from the co-op bank re: my new account details so after all the last of the DD's go out of my hubby's account this week i can clear the rest of the money out and put it in there. I haven't told the bank that we have our wages go into yet...that letter is still sat here. BUT i stupidly posted the letter to the credit card company (which is from the same bank) so i am really worried that they are going to clear our current account now :( so much for me thinking i was being clever! And if they do i won't have any money to live on as CTC, CHB & wages go in there!

    Total- £1362.23
Goal pay off 1% of current mortgage in 1 year. £1650

  • can you work out how much money you need for the DD'S then withdraw the rest? - that will give you something at least.

Hi and good luck, i've gone with co-op and have to say they were very quick and helpful setting everything up.

I did the same as you; didn't send the letter to the bank but did to the credit cards, I dont think they talk to each other as my bank was a&l and most of the cc debt was with santander (in various forms) and they didn't clear out the remains of the overdraft before the transfer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be the same for you!

  • Evening, first day back at work for me today..boohoo...oh well life is so much less stressed now that we're on the DMP..
  • I came home to a letter from Nationwide cc telling me my card is suspended until I make the min payment. My token payment letter has crossed it in the post.

Do you know what? I didn't give a stuff! I know that I'm in control now and have Payplan behind me.

I no longer nearly throw up as I open the door after a days work to a pile of bills on the floor! :)
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
