Hi Folks,
We are new here. My wife and i set up a DMP with CCCS just before Christmas, we are saddled with 42k of unsecured debt, we have two children one 8months old now and the other 5, concern over providing them with a secure future has actually made me take ownership of this problem. I have always been irresponsible with money, but of late it had been getting too much for me to cope with. We have setup our DMP but its been hard work and this morning i have had a Default notice come through from Egg, who recommended i speak to the CCCS a few months back!! Tesco have sent me another letter saying they have not heard from the CCCS even though we have been told they have sent them 3 copies of the letter and my budget etc.
Can anyone recommend what i should do next, i am panicing about next year. Our Mortgage comes to the end of its fixed interest only period, i can afford the payments and have never missed amortgage payment but with my credit profile the way it is i wont be able to get a new mortgage, does this mean the mortgage company will call the loan back? its scary times as i don't want to be homeless!
I set up my DMP with CCCS in August and Egg and LLoyds have only just agreed to my reduce payment plan they said that they never recieved my budget from CCCS ,I think that they were playing me due to my OH having accounts with the same people and getting his payments set up straight away.
Also I would also like to say that due to the emails on this forum, it has given me help and comfort that I am not alone, and other people are going though this too. Thanks everyone.Debt Free No. 403

As you cancelled your dd with Nationwide you are entitled to a FULL refund from Nationwide under the direct debit guarantee. Demand it! It usually only takes a day or two to get back.
Please don't put your council tax on barclaycard. They will a charge you interest and you could get into a lot of trouble for doing it knowing you are about to embark on DMP.
My advise is don't pay council tax. Either catch up next month or have a plan to repay over a number of months or have an extra month of tokens so you can have an emergency fund built up. Most of us that had no or 1 month of token payments said we wish we'd have had one or 2 months or them if we had our time again so we had an emergency fund to fall back on.
Payplan /CCCS /Debtline have good advice for the situation you describe
Good luck
Hope that helps

Squirrel, as above, don't pay on the CC, if you add any extra onto CCs when you don't intend or have no way of paying it back, will look badly on you. Speak to the council as mentioned before to see if you can defer for a month. When I changed A/Cs, my council tax didn't go though in time an they just rolled over for a month and spread the payments over the remaining months.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

I had two accounts with Overdrafts, and it took around 6 months for them to stop interest on both.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
